I'm on again off again working out. When I work out, its hard and all the way. And I do it for a few months and then I'll slack off. But I'm slowly getting back into it
Post-binge drinking college years, absolutely. It is hard to get momentum and break your inertia if you don't do it often, but it can really set you free and provide a release to all the stress we accumulate in today's world. Nothing specific, no P90x, not reps or regiments at all; just go outside with some headphones and 5 lb weights or something and swing about yourself, in whatever fashion you feel like. Celebrate your ability to move, more than 'working' out. Attitude makes a huge difference to how you can open yourself up. Body is mind. Working the weight off starts in your head/core, behind the eyes. Love is levity, up instead of down. Want to feel like you hold yourself up tall, not hang on your backbone. Can change your life truly. You're a fancy creature with utterly perfect centripetal balance (potentially). Try to feel your body as one piece and move it all together and you'll see the goo melt right off (more surface area, all muscles together, burns much larger quantity of calories). Don't have to work yourself to the verge of heart attack, just try to find your full extension, sphere of influence all around you, float. Just some friendly tips I happened to discover training for tennis. You are orbital (rotational) like the Earth about the sun, clockwork. Wind up, as stress and fear want to twist you down tighter and tighter, and tighter. Just get to know every fiber of yourself, grab hold.
I used to be a runner, weight lifting, golf, and hunting.....but since the multiple medical issues I had to quit most.. Am starting back at the Y in december (new health plan that covers it), am hopeful
I Hike, Bicycle, Hang Glide, Climb Cliffs, and Spelunking.
I think, doing those things essentially gives me the exercise I need.
I do not work out in a gym... but I do have a treadmill, elliptical glider and weights for those winter months that I don't get out as much.
