People magazine asked its readers about their work clothes, and we thought we'd zero in on one of their questions.

Jeans. Ya wear 'em at work?

Obviously, some jobs are more accepting of formal attire than others. If you work in construction, jeans are probably your best option. On the other hand, if you're a member of the Senate you might want to wait until casual Friday.

(The Senate has casual Fridays, right?)

When I actually had a job, I wore jeans to work all the time. It was just after school stuff, fish and chip shop and cleaning and stuff, so it didn't matter.

Yes, because our bosses thought that giving the employees the option to wear jeans for 8 weeks during the summer would somehow dull the pain of eliminating our summer hours program (work an extra hour Mon-Thurs, then work only a half day on Friday). Why would I want to wear jeans during the summer? Its too hot!

There should be a dress code for a place of business. Jeans is a casual item keep them as such not working attire foe some jobs.

If I am going to be cleaning, doing some kind of physical labor, or participating in a company pic-nic, I might. Part of my responsibility as a high school teacher, is to model the behevior and image of a responsible adult. It's hard to be taken seriously when what your wearing implies your a joke. "Grown-ups" don't sag their pants or wear their club gear in order to avoid being late to happy hour. Regardless of what you do for a living, it is worth the time to invest some time and thought in the way you will be perceived by your audience.

only if I am not "officially" working and my presence in the office is a figment of their imagination.
sometimes we get a "gift" a dress down Friday, and its fun.

Jeans and shirts are the standard fare at my work. Anyone caught wearing a tie and slacks will be questioned (with humorous intent, obviously).

If I do not like wearing jeans at all, why would I want to wear them at the job?

I just like to wear something casual and comfortable.

why not. they are comfy and fashionable and i mean as long as they arent shredded or cut up the sides and tied in bows i havent seen a boss criticize or call out a person yet. Then again it depends on the job. Props to any lawyer who comes into a court room wearing levi's. that guy/girls a winner in my book XD

It would be pretty cool to have a job where you can dress casual once in a while, nothing provocative of course.

I wish my wife still wore scrubs. lol I used to complain about how many pairs she had, until she got her new job and, "...we would like for you to look more professional than scrubs in your management position." So now instead of scrubs I have to pay for real clothes. Never seen a nurse that didn't wear scrubs.....just saying. lol

we have charge nurses and nurse managers in scrubs so it has nothing to do with going up the corporate ladder. they wear them for practical reasons. and comfort i would imagine.

I am a charge nurse and thankfully I still get to wear mine. My manager though, wears more business apparel. It's pretty much if you are still primarily on the floor then you get to wear scrubs. If you have an office, not so much.
