It would be stupid to lie to your doctor. There could be something wrong with you that you don't know about, and the dr could help you with it, if you told them the truth about everything they ask.

I can see why people do though:

1. Fear of lectures.
2. Fear of being told you have something bad. In other words "If I don't know about it, I don't have it."

It's a bad excuse I know, but let's face it, I think that most people would rather not know about some stuff in their lives.

You go to the doctor for guidance and health information.. hopefully. I've had the same physician for nearly 40 years. Thankfully, he is still practicing and i trust him with my life ;-}

I once did... sort of... My psychiatrist asked me a question and I didn't gave him a straight answer. I felt uncomfortable about being straight honest. :(

I feel that they can't help you properly if they don't have all the facts. I have had a couple doctors say "you do what?" and sit there with a look on there face like"and you are still alive?". But without the whole picture they can't get an accurate diagnosis.

I'm straight forward and direct. It's not worth going if the doctor doesn't know whats wrong with you, even if at first he doesn't believe you when you tell him.

I'm in the Navy. Everyone I know lies to the medical officer about how much they drink!
Officially, it's supposed to be under 21 units a week. Most men I know drink at least 100!
