Major depressive. Some days not even medication helps.

I deeply regret you've had to deal with that severe struggle, Chloey, especially on a daily basis. I'm glad, though, that you have a family within reach where you can draw from them anyway you see comforting, though I know it's not always enough :( I wish I could do more than just be here...honestly.

I have manic depression. the depressed mood comes once a week and lasts for about a day or two and for no reason. I lose interest in things, I feel pessimistic and I feel doomed that my life is going to end in failure or I'll never amount to anything. Those one or two days seem like a lifetime, after that goes away I start to feel better again. What helps me cope with it is that I convince myself that my foul mood is just creating an illusion. It sucks, but once you learn how to get a handle on it, then it doesn't seem so bad.

another thing that works for me is when I feel the onset of depression, I'll bring it all in by making it worse; making myself even more depressed because once you hit rock bottom then there's no other place to go except up. make yourself even more depressed, go into seclusion, and cry for about 15-20 minutes, after that you might feel a little better. repeat the process next time it happens. it works for me so i'm just passing on advice that might or might not be helpful. It's worth a shot. :-)

I feel depressed often so that part of the question gets a resounding yes but I wonder about the "for no good reason" part of it. I can always look back through the past of my life and find a reason that I may feel depressed. It may be a repressed reason but I can always find something.

i'm sorry you're going through that, seriously. the teens are tough years but that might not be all there is to it...still, listening to upbeat music or music you can associate with can sometimes pull people through a short interval, and activities that reward you with accomplishment can sometimes help, too, but if there are symptoms similar to the ones on the image you posted, that might indicate clinical depression which requires professional assessment. it'd be a good idea to talk this issue out with an adult you can trust for their sensibility and compassion.

Depressed is a little strong, but yes I get sad for no reason sometimes. Worst thing is that on such moments I always start thinking sad thoughts, giving me a reason to be even sadder. Like how unfair the world is, and how humans ruin everything.

Please don't confuse depression with sadness.

Not true, depression comes in many forms. Most depressions have a reason. Some get depressed after losing a job, or worst, a loved one.

Excuse me? What snt true?? Depression LASTS a decent amount of time. It is NOT the same as sadness.
I said that depression does that, NOT that it can't be caused by something. This is something over dealt with my entire life, don't try and tell me what I already know.
  • Syl Vitalani 2012/06/12 13:40:57

Do you realize what a bitch you're being? All I said was that a depression is not something you get for no reason. What you said did come across as if you were saying a depression is something you get without a reason. So if you don't want people to misinterpret what you say, be clear instead of getting mad.
  • Vitalani Syl 2012/06/12 21:15:59
    Vitalani
How am I being a bitch? lol. Would you like me to sugar coat everything for you darling?
Of course it's not, I'm very well aware of situational depression. Getting mad? What are you talking about? You seem to be the only one who's got their panties ruffled, calling people names.

There are many types of depression, however I get sick of people saying 'I'm depressed". Depression is a medical diagnosis. Saying that you are depressed without seeing a doctor is like say you have cancer and not going to an oncologist. Plenty of people get sad, but that does not mean they are depressed.

Seriously, my former wife did that only once and it was enough to worry the hell out of me...she had no idea why. That'd have to be hormonal or blood chemistry-related...sorry you're having to deal with that :(
