Do you ever feel like you don't fit in

Sometimes, I feel like a freak. My world view, thoughts, judgements, beliefs...they change quite often based on new information and scenarios. I don't really fit into the "boxes" and "labels" created by society, and sometimes it bothers me. I've been called a "flake", "hypocrite", and "fence-rider", because I may believe in one thing that fits nicely into a "group", but in something else completely on the opposite end of the spectrum. Where do I fit in?

There has been several times in my life that I've felt that way .The last time was when i left the military hospital after being hit with an IED it ended my military career after 18.5 years . As i was leaving the hospital and got home i really didn't fit in as my life had changed and as friends and family partied i just left and went to the woods because i didn't fit in there!

I'm in my forties and am always being left out. I have just decided I will never fit into a "group" - I don't like cliques, and when I hang out with the same people for too long, I always do something to make them mad. I usually don't do it on purpose, I just am who I am. Its kinda sad, and I know how you feel, but its ok not to fit in, the world needs people like us to "shake" things up!

It only really happens when I go to concerts. People tell me I am too old to like the music I like.

I have at times felt like I don't fit in. It's really hard because people make you feel there is something wrong with as if it is your fault when it really isn't.

I'm the same way as you... what other people think doesn't really bother me, though. Let them think what they want about me, because at the end of the day, the only person's approval that matters is my own.

I always feel this way! I have always been a "person of the dark voids" as in I think alot differently then everyone else, stand up for things everyone disagrees with, and my friends always leave me out. Theres days when I just want to sit at home and sob. dark voids alot differently disagrees friends leave days home sob

I can conform to most situations without compromising my beliefs. the only time I feel that I don't "fit in" is when I'm surrounded by a large group of liberals. But in those situations I don't want to fit in. comprimising beliefs feel fit surrounded large group liberals situations fit

I do feel like I don't fit in often. But I just try to be myself. If I get make fun of for it, or feel ashamed of who I am, I'm hanging out with the wrong crowd. You should never feel ashamed of who you are, how you act, and your opinion on things.

Sure all the time. But not in enviroments most people do like a classroom with no friends or a large social event, I feel like I don't belong a family functions.
I'm the black sheep of my mom's side of the family, like no one hardly talks to me cause they don't know what to talk to me about except "How wonderful it is that I'm in school". So yeah it's a little tougher then just the regular cliche thing.

There are many times when I felt like I didn't fit in...but then I got over it and told everyone else to like me for who I am or piss off. As long as you aren't thinking of killing someone, don't be afraid to be different. It's actually kinda fun!

times felt fit told piss thinking killing afraid kinda fun

I think it's just a testament to how open minded a person can be. I've been called a fence-rider myself. In politics, I'm definitely a moderate person. Many of my beliefs are liberal (pro-choice, support gay marriage), yet extremely conservative supporting the libertarian ideals of eliminating welfare completely. Most people don't fit in categories, I believe. It's just that it's a lot easier to hand out labels or put people in groups, regardless if these labels fit or not.
