In my 60+ years I've seen no verifiable evidence that there is a listener. On the other hand, I am thankful to Einsteins' "God of Spinoza". “There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein

St. Therese reminds me that our entire life should be a prayer. All we do is an offering to God, if we keep that in our heart. I engage in formal and learned prayer to some extent every day, but mostly, I'm trying to learn the discipline of fashioning my life as a prayer. To be communing with God in my washing of dishes, doing laundry, taking a walk, listening to beautiful music, singing etc.

Every night I pray for like, two hours haha. It's not a bother to me at all.

And to people who are saying it's time-wasting, I don't see it as that. It doesn't make me feel good about myself. In fact, it's even humbling in a way to go over all the bad stuff I had done and talk about it. It makes me feel relieved, and answers don't come to you straight ahead. God doesn't pop down from the clouds and gives you a long list why he won't or will answer your prayers. I think if you have faith and if it is meant to be, God answers your prayers. It's nice to know someone is listening to my problems and I don't have someone judging me at the same time. It's not foolish to me, so anyone who is going to respond and say that, you might as well just don't reply. You can shove science in my face and I would still tell you that I believe in God and Jesus. I respect everyone's beliefs. I have a lot Atheist friends and people of other religions. It doesn't bother me, but I always tell them I'm open to talk. I think God answers prayers in a lot of different ways. It's your job to put your foot in that door and try, and if it's mean to be, the rest is up to God.

It's a shame that it's so easy to curse, but so hard for a person to pray.

I used to pray when I was a kid...

Under my evolving philosophy I have realized that God (and I do believe there is one) doesn't care. There is a God, he cared once, but no longer... and the more I learn and see of this world, I can't blame him.

If you're Agnostic you should pray to Agatha. It just seems appropriate, and you'd be on the same level as everyone else because I'm not even sure which Agatha you'd be praying to (let alone who she may be). It's perfect.

If a little superficially. I distinctly remember during High school whenever I was in big trouble I would suddenly remember that people often ask for help from a deity lol.

Praying is a waste of time, except for the one doing the praying,, it makes them feel as thoug "I am a good person",, when if one stops and think about all the time wasted praying how much could be done by actually getting off their knees and doing something constructive for humanity.. Say if 100 million people go to church on sunday,, including sunday school and the church service 3 hours are spent .. That is 300 million man hours spent doing nothing constructive... Just think what could be done with that time if applied right....

"... to deliver the prayers, using the patients' first names and the first initials of their last names."

Of course it didn't work, only the first initials of their last names? God helped the wrong guy!

Oh well, that did it...now we will need to raise another 2.3 million dollars to do the study all over again! Just to be clear we should also include the middle name of the patient ;)
