"Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; Seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come". ~Julius Caesar from Act 2 and Scene 2 from the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.

They're ok but sometimes it's lame to have to keep referring to the "What did they say?" key when they use a word or phrase I'm not familiar with or have forgotten what it means. Sometimes I forget.

    Life's but a walking shadow
A poor player that struts and frets his life upon the stage
It is a tale told by an idiot
    Full of sound and fury
    ... Signifying nothing.

I don't enjoy READING them. They weren't meant to be read, but to be seen. I do enjoy seeing them well acted.

Not really. It's kind of pretentious and lofty. I found the ancient greek plays I studied in Classical Civilization much simpler to engage with.

Shakespeare is a little hard when you are so young with the thick english accents. But as I grew older and appreciated my heritage and looked at the complete works of william shakespeare I like him.

I don't know what it is about Shakespear. I don't think reading them is really much of anything to do, but studying them is both fascinating and beneficial. The stories and characters seem so much bigger than life. Every death is every death, and they are so tragic, but what would the world be without Shakespear as a backdrop for the events that happen around us?

I would be very into a group that looked into the the impact of Shakespear's works over the years in an attempt to define the importance of them. I guess that would be difficult, but I would love the challenge. Also, it would provide an opportunity for me to read Shakespear with a purpose other than to just be exposed to it.

I guess it all boils down to Shakespear is more valuable than it is enriching. It's a real battle to read and learn, and it doesn't make for good performances per se...at least that's my experience. It's just too hard to relate to the characters I think. But it is brilliant in that the world can't exist without Shakespear's works counting as masterpieces or as the ultimate expression of the soul.

I totally agree. Shakespeare's works are plays that make you think about what you are reading, and when you interpret what you are reading there is great meaning. The characters have so much life behind them.
