Wouldn't try this with a large dog. My dog is a lap dog and she rides in my lap when I let her go for rides in the car. She looks a lot like the dog in the pic for this question too.

Well the fact that she almost weighs as much as me and i cant drive are only small reasons why.

I have in the past with my toy fox terrier and it wasn't dangerous, she was very small and I watched the road... but now I have two big dogs and they just sit in the back seat and drool..

it's an American Breed and they come in all kinds of different colors. They were bred to hunt, trail, herd & protect, they can do it all. I have a pic of her on my profile.

Here is what I predict: Eventually the Nanny State "Do Gooders" will criminalize - smoking; having a pet not in a crate; eating; drinking anything; using GPS; having unruly children (probably the most disruptive thing to a driver's attention possible); holding hands. I am quite certain I could design studies to show how each and every one of those things is at least as distractive to a driver as talking on a cell phone. All the more fodder for the Police State we all live in.

Besides it being incredibly unintelligent, it's a hazard to driving and can cause accidents results in death. I've known people who have done that, and their driving severely decreases in proficiency because of it.

    Look what I can do:
Soon people won't be able to drink and drive, they won't be able to play video games and watch tv while driving, and they won't be able to put their babies in the care without a safety seat.

See what I did there? Take care,

Driving is driving, it is not about reading, texting, shaving, putting on makeup, eating...

My dogs ride in the backseat. They have no choice.

I have a small chihuahua (4 pounds). I love this little guy very much. If he were in my lap and the sir bag deployed he would be killed. That is not a risk I care to take. So my little pals ride in the back seat or the very back of the Jeep.

I was once T-boned by a guy that was doing that.. He and the dog were fine.

The cop (On his way to proceed a funeral) 'forgot' to list ACCIDENT INVOLVED when he wrote the idiot the ticket for running the red light the very 'officer' was setting in the turn lane at. So I was out a $500.00 deductible, even though it happened in front of a motorcycle cop, (Literally) because the guy didn't have a job, or insurance!

Some idiot grandmother in Australia did that with her granddaughter, you can only guess what happened when they rear ended another car. What would have otherwise been a minor crash turned into a major tragedy, the child was crushed and killed and the grandmother walked away without a scratch but having to tell her daughter what happened and why.

If people shouldn't drive with their children on their laps, why should pets be allowed?
