Do you differentiate between a "cook-out" and a "BBQ"?

In the South and Southwest, we have usually called a "cook-out" a time when you might throw some hot dogs, bratwursts, hamburgers or a steak on an outdoor grill and invited your friends and family over. We called a "BBQ" a time when we had the grill out but also the smoker and we had brisket, sausages, pulled pork, and ribs. I suppose it might be the same thing, but if you asked us over for BBQ and you had hot dogs and hamburgers, feelings would have been hurt!
