I think if I had eternal life, I'd grow tired of living eternally. But I'd make dang good fun before that, though only if it was on earth, not Poofy-Poofy Cloud Land.
I am going to do the best I can and create and show that the world is good/full of love with the time that I know I have. Stay in the instant and give it all that you can. When it's over it's over, if some"one" wants to keep you around then sweet, otherwise, at least you had a taste. There's no secret, automatic loophole you can speak that gives you eternal time, sorry. People can barely handle or appreciate the lives they have already, how would we handle eternity, we would still find something to kill each other over I'm sure. Stop asking for more, be glad for what you have... It is our finity that makes what we know and feel so special, a uniqueness to our time in the world. Short, sweet, and potent.
I don't DESERVE eternal life, as I am a sinner saved by Grace. Grace was a gift that was given to me. I am blessed I have this gift, but I do not deserve it.
Being a spirit child of God, I was born for it, but as to deserving it, No. It is a gift of God. And God makes it possible for me to be prepared to live with Him again. All I have to do is follow His instructions and example, and I will be ready and worthy.
Do I deserve eternal life? Yes, I think so, because everyone and everything deserves eternal life, and that everything is all part of the same eternity. I believe we are not seperate from God
None of us deserve eternal life, not one. We are saved by the grace of Jesus alone, not by our actions. The Apostle Paul explained it far better than I ever could.
From NKJV (like the original King James, but with the "thees" and "thous" translated into modern English):
The human condition:
Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"
The sole provision for our sins:
Romans 3:28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law."
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Our hope:
Romans 8: 38-39 "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
How does this mean I live? While I'm still struggling with this (Romans 7: 14-25 speaks eloquently of this struggle), I believe that everything I have and everything I do is a gift from God. Therefore, I try (and many times fail) to follow the two greatest commandments that God gave me in life "Love God with all of your heart, and love your neighbor."
According to the Bible, we have all sinned (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8). As a result of that sin, we all deserve death (Romans 6:23) and eternal judgment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:12-15). With that in mind, every day we live is an act of God's mercy. If God gave us all what we deserve, we would all be, right now, condemned for eternity.
We deserve judgment, but if we receive Jesus Christ as Savior, we receive mercy from God and we are delivered from judgment. Instead of judgment, we receive by grace salvation, forgiveness of sins, abundant life (John 10:10), and an eternity in Heaven, the most wonderful place imaginable (Revelation 21-22). Because of the mercy and grace of God, our response should be to fall on our knees in worship and thanksgiving. Hebrews 4:16 declares, "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
No I don't. I'm a sinner and the price of sin is death, eternal death. My freedom from death was bought for me by the Christ offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice for all the sins of the world. Therefor, nothing I can do would cause me to deserve eternal life, but I accept the gift of eternal life from Christ, who offers it freely.
No one is insignificant my friend, it is impossible to live in this world without effect, the choice you have is whether it is of a positive nature or not. I have found that living with a positive mindset does wonders not only in your life, but also in all the lives you touch everyday.
I agree. For some reason it's hard for me to keep a positive mindset though. I know I shouldn't be thinking these things, and know that my life is wonderful and the people I have in it are wonderful. I tell myself this but I don't feel happy often.
Well that happens to us all, I have times when I feel down, the trick for me sometimes is to go ahead bitch about whats bugging even if its just to yourself, you know kind of a get it off you chest thing, but then move, don't dwell on the negative.
The Bible tells us to look for the good and praise it, which is great advise because it keeps your mind pointed in the right direction. picture you mind and thoughts like that the sails of great sailing ship. If the captain doesn't keep the ship pointed in the right direction so that sails catch the greatest amount of the prevailing winds, then his ship is going to go nowhere fast maybe even backwards.
I don't know how old you are, I went through a period when I was around 14 or 15 yrs old where I felt pretty out of step with the world, I come to understand since then that it is to go through those kinds of feelings.
But just like walking through a forest on a moonless night, you don't want spend a lot time getting thorugh it, and a great way to do that is to learn art redirecting negative thoughts and feelings toward something positive, find some kind of activity that you enjoy doing and throw yourself at it.
Hang tough you'll be fine. Message anytime you like.
God knew the hairs on our head before we were born and sent his son to die for us. We are anything but insignificant. Our role may not be in the spotlight, but we're all interconnected in some way.
I pray everyday that I am given the strength in life to do the right thing so I can earn eternal life. I hope one day I am worthy enough to be welcomed into heaven and be reunited with those that have passed before me.
