No, but then I'm British and although I am patriotic, our national anthem is incredibly dull. So mindnumbingly dull that i now know why countries like France never want us to win at sport - it's so they only have to listen to God Save the Queen once per match.

I get angry that I am being forced to hear it again. I hate that stupid song. It must be one of the worst anthems out there. America the Beautiful would be a much better choice. It says so much more about the US than a stupid song about war sung to the tune of an Irish drinking song. Yeah, that makes sense to me... let's make everyone sing a song no one can remember all the words to.

Our national anthem sucks. They should have picked "We are Australian", not "Advance Australia Fair".

Actually, I don't think it's a very good song. I understand the history of the melody part of it, was a french beer hall song. They should use America The Beautiful, would be a 1000% better as a national anthem. Now that song can stir emotions. The present one is boring and most singers have trouble singing it!!!!

Oh no, I didn't mean to imply that. I think it's a good question, I just meant I was chastised for crying. I love the national anthem, and my tears are tears of pride and happiness that I live in such a great country.

Please keep your questions coming, we have a lot of duplicate ones, but that's OK by me.

Just curious. When I was stationed in Northern Germany, I met a few very nice young men that were in the UK Armed Forces. I have many fond memories of the people I met while in Germany and when I visited the UK. You guys in the UK know how to have a good time! :)

    Take care,

I do when it's a well-sung, moving rendition, not the crap that you hear so many times lately. It's not a pop tune - if you want to riff - sing something else.

If it is a particularly moving rendition, I find myself reflecting on what it took, and what it takes, to maintain our freedom, so many people have sacrificed so much for this country it is hard for me not cry at times when I hear it played or sung.
