It's Midsummer's eve here in Finland today. This is the second biggest celebration of the year in Finland (After Christmas), the whole point of this day is for the whole nation to go on a drinking binge, BBQ some food, dance around a bonfire and then go swimming in the lake.
It's a odd celebration but goes back to the pagan roots of this country (Finland still holds some very traditional pagan beliefs) this is the longest day of the year, the sun doesn't set at all during this day (Which means you stay up the whole night) but it's quite a lot of fun, even though it gets scary at times with so many drunk people around.
Do you celebrate it yourself?

- FencerCat 2012/06/22 11:49:06No.+1Sounds like fun, but unfortunately, we don't celebrate it here in the US. I guess because it comes between two national holidays, Memorial Day (last Monday in May) and Independence Day (July 4th), it would be too many holidays in a short space of time.reply
