A bottle was bought as a gift to me and I must have carried it around for 8 or more years but finally retired it. Now if someone wants to mess with me they better look out and think twice! I'll kick their butt!
I don't actually carry it. I've just heard that it's better. I forget why. But I'd imagine people would sue over getting pepper sprayed, too. I've never needed to use anything like that, fortunately.
I work at a law firm, and actually, if used in self defense it poses no problem in regards to retaliation from the attacker. The attackers usually just leave the scene - the cowards.
Well, and that's why we have the legal system to decide the justification of such acts. But, if a victim has to resort to use wasp spray to avoid eminent danger from an attacker, with the aid of a good attorney, I could see a judge leaning in the favor of the victim and not the attacker. And like I stated, most attackers would never report it. Chances are that they are on probation, a colorful criminal past, or have outstanding warrants. . For myself, I'm just waiting for the day when science fiction becomes reality.
If the attacker sues, he becomes the victim in the eyes of the law. A cool million in a civil suit would be good pay for a few months in the can for attempted robbery.
(And a knife sometimes...)
handy for cleaning fish...what else would i use it for ? ;)
In case the perpetrator manages to flee up to a distance of 100km. I will get him even then.
"...It is a violation of federal law to use a pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling."
To me, that's a lawsuit just waiting to happen.
Snopes.com has a pretty fair article on the subject, regarding effectiveness and advisability: http://www.snopes.com/crime/p...
