Do you buy organic cage-free eggs because you care about how the birds are treated?

We get our eggs from our own chickens. They roam wherever they want to during the day and then we put them in their coop in the evening before the coyotes come out.
I don't feed them organic feed though. They get cracked corn and grains that we grow ourselves and whatever else they find..mostly bugs. lol
But at least I know what my chickens are eating and the eggs are YUMMY!

We're trying...I would like to be self-sufficient...or as self-sufficient as possible. Plus, I think it's healthier for the children. You can taste the difference between our eggs and those that are store-bought.

did you know that the reason they are big is because the birds are pumped full of steroids and shit? Save your health and eat two regular sized ones!

But the government says they are safe. How can they not be?

it's all about the amounts. It's like products that say they have zero trans fat.
It's not actually true. Provided they don't go above a certain percentage they are allowed to say it's zero, when it's not. History is littered with drugs for example that passed the FDA and were subsequently found to have dangerous side-effects. But as with all things, be a little cynical and protect yourself. Find out about eggs and battery hens and how they live. Many of them spend their lives in cages and are not able to move, so their legs are very weak. They suffer a lot.

I could take the obvious jab about health care reform and how the government often does not give us the whole story but instead I will just leave it with your words..."be a little cynical and protect yourself."
