I have watched several different shows about the Bible vs historical record, and while some things are the same, many different things are very off.

I would have put all of the above if not for the "I believe the bible over actual facts."
No doubt the bible contains facts,... but it IS also collection of fairy tales and is to be fact checked against what is known to be true. No one lives the bible as if it were literally true... even the people who say they do. They don't. Modern Christians are like Itune account holders... skip to the bottom of the license agreement and click "I agree" without reading it.

ALOT OF THE BIBLE IS ACTUAL FACTS! LOT IS HISTORICCAL! OH YES IT IS... ROMAN ACCIUNTS-WHICH THEY HAD TO KEEP GOOD ACOUNTING OF.. AND OTHER HISTORY...NOT ALL IS--BUT QUITE ALOT... FACT IS FACT.

i think if it as stories based off of events that happened in the only way people knew how to explain it at the time. and some of them are ripped off of other stories from before.

No you don't. Sorry. Is it right to stone a woman to death if she isn't a virgin on her wedding night? Fact; it's not. There is no way, you live the word of the bible line by line. If you did, you would go insane because it would eventually tell you to do something it told you earlier not to do.

yes, that culture is biased and what i am trying to say is for example...booze if not allowed in the street but if you drink it behind closed doors it is ok...they just have some double standard situations over there

Given the rampant superstition that plagued the regions where the various holy texts were compiled and the standard of evidence that prevailed when they were put together; it's a wonder anyone takes them seriously.

I'm sure the ancient believers seen something, but I would say it's safe to say that a few things were embellished more than a little for dramatic effect.

The Bible is "a marvelous library" according to the historian Durants. It probably contains a mixture of fact and fiction...which wasn't one of the options offered.
