Throwing oneself out of a lifeboat if it was too heavy. Killing oneself to feed others if you and they were trapped in a lifeboat/cave if there was no food.

Should be up to each individual to be able to make this decision. I can see it if I was terminal, have no chance of leading a quality life and will be losing my mind. Would rather end it sooner than a little later.

it's a personal choice. i don't think it's a good one, but you can't frown upon people for deciding to get out of a very bad situation that their life has become

As hard as it is to believe, but there will always be someone out there in the world who would gladly trade their life for yours. So that's one thing to remember if one ever feels that their life is not worth anything.

Justified? Like it is up to others if your suffering was bad enough to kill yourself!!?? Only the person knows where they are at in their lives. It is between them and god.

Thats a difficult one, and anyone with an incurable, painful illness I can understand the want to escape, but my beliefs are that suicide is not the answer, it's tragic that so many young people take their own lives, so unbearable for the family and friends left behind.

I believe that people have the right to end their own lives when they see fit. The problem is that usually when someone does that they are mentally ill and could possibly be helped. They might be leaving behind people who will be devastated. It's a complicated issue but I do not think it is a sin nor should it be a crime. It just isn't usually a good idea.

If you have a terminal condition and choose to end your life sooner then later it should be nobody else's decision but yours after you talk with family and doctors.

Absolutely. If a person is suffering day to day, in a way which no one can possibly imagine, and there is no hope for them to be better, I believe it would be selfish for anyone to keep them from ending it.

Suicide can be a very selfish act, however preventing it can be as well.
I would compare it to putting an animal to sleep, you can be sad they are gone, but they are still better off. It may be hard for you to swallow, but would you rather they be suffering?
