I dunno. I'm dubious. It didn't help the jews in the concentration camps.

Actually it did. Prayer helps us align our will with that of God. Many Jews were comforted in their sufferings because of prayer. AND Israel could never have come back into existence without the Holocaust. God used Hitler's evil for ultimate good.

I think it can help the person doing the praying to relax, much as meditation does.

There is much evidence of it working even among the non-religious.

For some I do think it helps. It doesn't work for me because I'm not religious. But I do practice positive affirmations/thinking to turn things around for myself and that is similar in a sense. Your focusing yourself through prayer or whatever works for you. At least that's how I see it.

If I believed prayers worked, that would mean all the people who prayed to stop the beating by their parent or to have food in their belly weren't asking hard enough and that is worse than someone not being there at all. Prayers don't work because that god is man made.

Allow me to point out an important aspect of God: He isn't a genie in a bottle that we can rub whenever we want a miracle. He has requirements on our heart before He is required to answer. If people are living in rebellion to His Word, knowingly or unknowingly, He is under no obligation to heed our requests. Sometimes He answers anyway, because He's merciful. Sometimes He answers, but it isn't the way we expected. For example, the one being beaten might be provided with stamina, primarily emotional, so that they can endure the situation, and come out a better person, with greater ability to help others.

God is not man-made; He made man. The only alternative is to believe that we all came from a rock millions of years ago.

I don't know what torrent file is or magnet link. I'll have to research those terms first but I will read your information.Thank you for sharing I feel there is something higher than us, we were created by but it's not the god in the bible. That god is man made and very vengeful. Religion was created for one reason: to conquer and control. Some religions like bhuddism and Hinduism aren't based on the same principles so they fall in a different category. Paganism has a lot of different aspects to it, many which I don't understand but at least they recognize the fact that more than one supreme being existed and worked together in harmony. That is how nature works, absolute balance. The Christian god ignores the balance and all that he was suppsed to have created. To me, from what I experienced and learn, that god is a false idol for all of its followers. If you want to believe it is real, that's fine. Hopefully on the other side, if there is one, the creator(s) will recognize your faith and reward you. Me, I feel my place is to learn and grow through knowledge by doing what I feel is right and not inflicting pain onto others.

Your comment makes me wonder what your basis for understanding "the Christian god" may be. It sounds like you've read a lot of what other people have said about Him, without reading what He said about Himself. Try talking to someone who knows Him personally, such as myself, rather than people who are doubtful of His very existence, and I think that you'll find that the picture of God that has been painted in your mind by your sources is highly inaccurate. Above all, read His own description of Himself in the Bible, and hear from Him Who and What He is.

Torrent files are shortcuts to data that exists in the Peer-to-peer BitTorrent network, which is nothing but a network of normal users running BitTorrent programs. I suggest the original BitTorrent client, from www.bittorrent.com

....with a few caveats: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16. However: "He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination." Proverbs 28:9

If you live God's way, to the best of your power, He hears and answers prayer. If you reject His ordinances for living, He hates that you even dare to ask Him for things.

It does. Even if it's just in our minds, it still helps those who pray. My neighbor's youngest daughter was diagnosed with Brain Cancer and given a maximum of 6 months to live... all of us who knew her prayed for her. She died almost 3 years later without pain.
