Well the curiousity in the oppoite sex often starts as soon as we realize the differences between our sex and the other one. Also we often imitate the behavior of people older than us because of curiousity. As soon as puberty hits our sex drive starts because of sex hormones doing their work so of course our sexuality exists then but it's still fairly fluid during our teen years. Why do you think their are so many bi-curious and bisexual teen girls but fewer of them in late 20's crowds? Also as girls we're conditioned to be boy crazy well before we even could in most cases possibly be truely interesting in boys in a real way dealing with our sexuality. Also if you want to know how vulnerable teens sexuality wise, some lesbians were molested by men they trusted when they were young and just never get over it. How do I know that? Well I have several close lesbian friends from high school that told me their sad stories. Does that apply to everyone who is gay/lesbian no but it happens often enough sadly.

And at 12 years old, I just happened to notice that I found girls and guys attractive. Your point is?

Which is way the tribe doesn't encourage homosexual behavior. Some of the bi's would opt out of the parenting brigade.

I'm not sure I understand your point. I've no problem with people choosing to not have children.

In the days when one third of children died maintaining the birth rate and hence the population was a priority.
Today whites world wide are decreasing in number each generation by a sixth to a third depending on the country. Houston we have a problem.

I'm not a tribalist; in fact I think the survival of our species depends on our putting that mentality behind us. The planet has long been overpopulated. I suspect, in this case, we can do no more than agree to disagree.

And even if they were, who cares? Also, even if they were, that doesn't make it OK.

So if you wanted to, could you right now choose to be attracted to men?

Perhaps for some it is a simple mater of swinging one way or another in their sexual relationships, however< and I have seen good examples of this, for some it is not a mater of choice, they are girls whether they have a penis or not. Girls are predisposed to behave in a certain manner from an early age, they don’t need encouragement they just naturally like to play the girly games and some boys just fit into the mould as well, that is definitely the way it is.

I personally don't believe in sexuality, but you wouldn't say "Do you believe that straight people were born straight". If you're straight, of course you'd say 'yes, I was born straight but gay people aren't." That doesn't make sense to me. So why label yourselves when it could start mess? :(

Science has been unable to prove this. It is the very liberal media that would have everyone believe it is so.

well, maybe not gay as an infant. It's not like they come out of the uterus thinking "Mmmm that male doctor has nice arms". LOL

But It's definitely not a choice! I think it sort of just becomes who they are later as a kid. Because Babies aren't really sexually attracted to anyone...

Just as heterosexuals were born straight.

But there will always be those people who convince themselves that they're gay when they really aren't. Though most of them are teens.

I have personal experience with naturally, not consciously, finding out who I'm attracted to. It's not really that I believe, but that I KNOW.
Labels are just that though, labels. They can be changed, false, and chosen. And sexual orientation is a label. But attraction is 100% not chosen.

'Born gay' might be a literalizing it a little bit (after all, we don't become sexually mature until after puberty), but yes, I think people have an inherent predilection toward one sex or the other, or both, and this begins to emerge as they age.

If one is to speak to a homosexual, you will find their experience was exactly the same.

I believe that there's a spectrum from straight to bi to gay. If someone is biologically at one of the ends, then their orientation is pretty fixed. However if they're bisexual, then it would seem logical that choice and opportunity might have some influence on behavior.

Good point (: Doesn't, however, mean that attraction can be chosen. Just that people can chose what they want to label themselves as!

Maybe everybody is born bisexual and society convinces the majority of them to choose to be straight.

Well- I believe that most people are indeed bisexual.
    kinsey scale
Look at this scale, not everyone can be 0 or 6. So most have to be bisexual. So society probably just convinces people that fall into the 1 and 5 categories that they are either completely straight or gay. And, naturally, most of the population in general is on the lower end of the spectrum. I don't disagree with you entirely though!

It's been my experience that very little in life can be logicly black or white, one or the other. But that the truth of most issues lie in a balance somewhere in between. I can totally see where your position could well be closer to the actual reality. I could for example understand how that in general, people are born as a biological, bisexual "blank" (for lack of a better word) and that genetic/enviromental componets basicly tip the individuals orientation one way or the other. It's an interesting concept and I can see how it would go a long way to bridge the gap between currently competitive positions.

All very good points (: That may very well be possible! While most things in life are not purely black and white, humans like to sort them that way into labels. We like simple things, so we try and fit complicated concepts into simple labels and categories. Thus, some of these labels are gonna be slightly off.
This is like having 3 boxes that only hold one apple each, and trying to shove all 7 apples into those boxes! lol

Yes I think people are born either heterosexual or homosexual. It's quite normal throughout the animal kingdom. You'll find homosexual behavior across all species. Why would humans be exempt? We are, after all is said and done, animals.

    NONE OF THE ABOVE

The people who have studied this sort of thing tell us that for some it is genetic (XY stuff) and they also say that there are environmental issues that cause a person to chose homosexuality (abuse etc).
