Jay0Byrd 2012/05/10 14:26:34yes+4From what I learned in College, true Multipal personalities only occur within` 1-person out of 77,000, people in as much it's rare, now that was 1979 stats, in Sociology or other mental health studies this statistics can change over time, due to this infliction not showing up in people until later in age... so Yes, rare to find but yes persons can have multipal personalities

(maybe one day .. they will grow up to become adults .. but then again .. perhaps not!)
When I was young .. I didn't think there was such a possibility
(although we did learn about '3 faces of Eve' .. and also knew 'Sybil' .. )
Then as I advanced in rank in the service ..
trust me .. you learn to work with .. supervise ..
(what's the polite term here) .. ah, yes, "DIFFICULT" people indeed ..
there's some .. where you just feel that .. yep .. oh, my
there's a shift indeed to another 'personality' ..
and sadly .. one did get diagnosed with that too ..
(thankfully .. I never had to deal long with that in my work area .. )
that whats called multiple personality disorder
"NO!"
"SHUT UP GEMINI, THEY TOTALLY CAN!"
"NO THEY CAN'T YOU MANGY MUTT!"
"I think we need to agree to disagree."
"Fine. Hmph"
It's possible to have a lot of different personalities, I remember reading a study about a woman who had 8 different personalities, she could recall what she did, she would just have no explanation or be able to reason any of her choices as being her own, until she would switch back to one of her other personalities.
It's very rare though, quite often triggered by an intense childhood trauma and possibly related to genetics which trigger bipolar disorder as well.
Although personality "switches" are quite common in the general population, human personalities are not all that fixed, one can change over time as they adapt to a new environment or they will be a different person in each different environment and around different people. Although these changes are conscious, it is often very hard for people to relate to themselves as they were when they are not in that environment anymore or around those people.
And some people will "recreate" themselves many times in their life, suddenly they'll start to behave differently, ofte...

These can be looked upon as some form of multiple personalities too.
I also have an older brother who has bi-polar disorder and have seen him at the mania and low points, its really painful to see.
