I don't believe in fairy tales. Once we die we go into the ground, anyone who has seen a dead person, knows that. Or anyone who has experienced death in their family knows that life after death is just something a greedy human made up, so that they can live forever.
I believe in Life after death. Prefer to call it transcending into another form. Just because we don't see it, it doesnot mean it doesnot exist. I personally remember things that were put away by a dead person and everyone finding it hard to find them till one day I just walk up to the place because something nagged my brain and opened the closet and the whole thing that were were looking at for months tumbled out. Ironically, it was a closet we looked at everyday but just not in that particular spot. It was one of their secret hideouts that only they knew...
I have read many scientific papers as well as Doctors that have studied the subject. I know a few people personally that have experienced an NDE. They are very believable!
I believe there's something but not the traditional heaven or hell. I believe that there is a life force within all living things. I don't know what to call it really. It's not a soul, it's more of and energy or awareness. I believe it's in every living thing from a blade of grass to an elephant to a human being. I don't think it is destroyed by death. I'm not sure if it comes back in some other form or not. Or, maybe it goes back to its source when physical life is over. I know this sounds odd but I've thought about this all my life. I don't think I ever really bought into the heaven and hell story. I guess I'll find out someday.
I don't know anything about Shinto. But I have been looking into Paganism and Buddhism. I'll check out Shinto also. It's just that I can't be part of a regular christian religion anymore. I just don't in God anymore. There has to be something else and I think the only place I'll find it is within myself. Thanks for the suggestion!
Death is the end of life. saying there's life after death is like saying...
You know, i find it hard to think of something else as absolute. Matter in a vacuum? quantum level.
To say there's life after death is like saying a miracle happened. Miracles are by definition impossible, an event that defies natural law.
Death is the end of life. If there was life after it, it wouldn't be death.
For me the proverbial "fate worse than death" would be everlasting life. It would be nice to be able to choose when I go, but I love my life BECAUSE I accept its terminal nature.
everlasting life would be horrible... within 60-80 years everyone you know is dead... then you have issues with the human race dying out, what would be starvation could you die, the destruction of the earth, etc. No one ever thinks about all that.
Atheists Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Napoleon, Castro, Pol Pot, Kim Jung etc agree with you. They understood the moral implications of No God and no ultimate significance to life perfectly. They sure grabbed the gusto.
When you are dead, you are dead. No after-life. You are gone. Story is closed.
Which makes me appreciate life even more.
