Personally, i believe in both. I don't believe that everyone just burns in Hell, though. I think people who aren't saved go to Hell, but are seperated and dealt with according to their life.

Fear is Religion's only way to raise funds. Get away from religion and see a sudden improvement.

I use to think there was a heaven and hell, now I'm not so sure...too many things have happened in my life to make me believe that there is only heaven and hell in your day to day living....and nothing when you die! I still pray, but wonder if he is there?

What do you mean, "and nothing when you die"?
And I promise, he is there! Just have faith in him and read the bible. I strongly suggest Romans 8. It makes you feel pumped up when you're weak, and can bring you from bad places. I've read it about a million times and each individual scripture speaks out to me differently.

Thanks I will. I guess I'm just going through a rough time in my life right now...and really don't know where to turn. I have always prayed and I still pray and talk to God, but for many months I just feel like maybe there is nothing. I will read the part you said...I hope it will help, thanks again.

Yuh, I do. I believe that, to be a Christian, you must believe in all of the Bible; NOT just parts of it...both places can be found in the Bible. Whether it's ignorant to the "real world" to so easily accept something I have no tangible evidence of or not... I believe it.

I don't believe in a celestial reward... the Universe does not follow the concept of punishment and reward. The Universe just operates unbiased to the beliefs of man.

I believe, for the most part, that once you're dead, you simply cease to exist. You die, you're buried (or cremated), and slowly but surely rot away and become worm chow. Not quite as comforting as the idea of living in Heaven for eternity, but that's what seems most likely to me. But if there is a Hell, I would like to think that only the wickedest of the wicked go there - such as mass murderers and child rapists and such. I would like to think that a "loving" God wouldn't send someone to Hell over something as trivial as homosexuality or fornication or even simple disbelief. I also have to wonder why the Devil is considered the bad guy if he's the one who punishes evildoers in the afterlife.

I believe there are different levels of Hell. The bible says that anyone who doesn't accept Jesus Christ as their Savior they go to Hell. However, I don't think that all the children in the world who die and have never even heard of Jesus go to the terrible Hell spoken of. I don't believe my God would do that. If you haven't even heard of the Word or God in your life, then how can you be punished for not following? I believe God has remarkable mercy on these people in the judgement time, and places them in a nice place. Either Heaven, or a different version of Hell.

I know this kind of sounds naive, but if you really think about it, it makes sense.

"However, I don't think that all the children in the world who die and have never even heard of Jesus go to the terrible Hell spoken of."
If that's the case, then Christian missionaries must be on a mission to send as many people to Hell as possible.
  • Lindsey... Ty ~ PHAET 2012/04/04 21:39:56
    Lindsey Crowley-Scott
That doesn't even make any sense. The point of missionaries is to teach children about something so much greater than themselves that they need to believe in, and further guarantee their entry of their families and themselves into Heaven. People everywhere need to believe in the magnificent, omniscient God I believe in. What you said is exactly the opposite of public opinion and the truth.

Also, there is an age of accountability. And if a person has never heard of Jesus Christ, they are not expected to believe in it. It says in the bible that if you have heard the Word and thus rejected it, then you go to Hell if you don't change your mind before you die. If you haven't heard of something, God doesn't expect you to believe in it.

It makes perfect sense. You said that you aren't sent to Hell if you've never heard of the Bible or Jesus, which means that those people who've never heard of Jesus Christ would go to Heaven anyway. Perhaps missionaries should leave people alone and let them live their lives, since they're going to Heaven anyway.

I'm sorry TY, but also, in the Holy Bible, which, lindsey and myself believe in, one of Jesus' commands is to make disciples of the world and teach them to obey the Lord.
if, for example, myself went overseas to teach people about God, it's done out of a kind-hearted, loving, caring way. We mean the best intentions out of it. Its what the receiver of the message does with it from then on. And typically, people do not care or want to know about God because they don't know what they are missing. So we kindly inform them.

Because going into other countries and expecting them to drastically change their culture is the loving thing to do, right?
  • Corey Ty ~ PHAET 2012/04/12 17:56:19

Are you upset with my thinking path?...

and no, if I were to do that, I'm in their culture. I am to respect them if they don't want to know. If they are open hearted and kind, it would be lovely to share the news of the Bible with them.
  • Ty ~ PHAET Corey 2012/04/12 18:09:10

The problem is that missionaries travel to foreign lands with their Bibles and end up drastically changing another country's' culture. It may seem lovely to YOU to share the Bible with everyone, but not everyone you try to share it with is going to agree.

I wouldn't do it if my God didn't want me to. He wouldn't send me if He knew they would be offended or something like that....

That apparently didn't stop God from sending missionaries to Somalia, where they don't take too kindly to non-Muslims. The Native Americans didn't want to convert either, which was the main reason so many were murdered. MOST people who were approached by missionaries were reluctant to adopt the religion. I think it's safe to assume that ANYONE would be offended if someone from another country showed up out of the blue and expected them to change THEIR culture in the country that THEY live in. What if you had a house-guest who visited and expected you to completely change your household rules and alter the way things were done in your own home? The nerve of that guy, right?

I've read several documentaries about how people visit Heaven then the worldly medical feats bring them back to life. Also, I believe in the out-of-textual/historical proof that the Bible is real, so therefore, I believe the Bible is completely real. And in the bible, it talks of Heaven and Hell.

It is never the less far more likely that you have read several acounts of people who claimed to have been to heaven. because some one claims something is real does not mean it is. beside They could not have been there for long enough to get any real impresion of what is there as a person cant be clinicaly dead for long without serious brain damage. So it seems you may be just clutching at straws.
