(I just love how you atheists always demand proof and evidence from believers. But then you assert anything you want, without any proof or evidence as backup.)
I suppose we could say that Rufus was just stating his opinion. In which case, proof and evidence wouldn't really apply. Just as it doesn't apply with belief in God.
By the way, a person's love for their children exists. But that doesn't mean they can scientifically prove it. Just because something doesn't fit into a "scientific proof" box doesn't necessarily mean it's not real.
Not if you're going to call someone a "hateful harpy" just because she challenges you to back up your assertions.
Keep it classy there, Mr. Logical and Rational Atheist.
So, let's see some. Let's see some empirical evidence that backs up your claim that religious belief destroys the mind.
Please link us to some peer-reviewed scientific research that supports your claim.
Or are you one of the many, many atheists who demand proof and evidence from believers -- but then permit yourselves to assert anything you want, with no evidence to support it?
If so, you've got plenty of company. Such atheists are legion.
religious belief is a mental illness.
I mean, there are lots of African Americans inhabiting correctional facilities -- according to your "logic," this means there's something wrong with the race in general. I don't happen to believe that, of course, but maybe I would if I applied your "logic."
Do you have any proof or evidence that mental institutions are dominated in population by devout religious adherents? Or do sweeping generalizations count as "proof and evidence" in the world of "logical and rational" atheism?
who said anything about 'devout religious"",it seems you like to put words in someone else's mouth.
Please. Just in the last 90 years or so, Officially Atheist Regimes have killed at least 100 million of their own people.
Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, the Kims of North Korea, and several other practitioners of State Sponsored Atheism have racked up the world record for bloodshed, oppression, and death.
And all of this atheism-fueled bloodshed isn't from centuries ago, like the Crusades or Inquisitions. It's all happened in just the last century, and much of it in our very own lifetimes.
And don't give me this crap about how all of this oppression and death had nothing to do with atheism. It had LOTS to do with it. You can't divorce a person's or a state's acts in life from their primary core beliefs.
If a person or state commits mass murder and is a "devout" atheist, the two are undeniably linked. As Dostoyevsky wrote, "When God is not, anything is permitted."
atheist regimes?? where?
LOL lenin was jewish!
"Joseph Stalin was raised to be a Catholic Priest and I remain curious as to why his Christianity is shoved aside in all these arguments. Yes, there is no way to get around the fact that in his early career, Stalin made a vast effort to rid Russia of religion, but that had nothing to do with atheism. It was the only way he knew to seize power of the country."
" Pol Pot was a Theravada Buddhist. He studied at a Buddhist monastery and then at a Catholic school for 8 years. Cambodia's communism was influenced by Theravada Buddhism."
see how wrong you always are??LOL
apparently the bigotry lies in you and your obvious hatred of a-theism. your case has collapsed as it always does when people such as you try to justify something based on "sweeping generalizations" and use your hatred and bigotry as "evidence and proof"!LOL LOL
by the way ,there is no such thing as a "devout atheist"!LMAO!
"Add up the deaths that were attributed to Hitler, Stalin and Pot. Then round up for good measure. You can safely say that the number is staggering. Probably upwards of fifteen million. However, consider the following conflicts where the only differences between the opposing factions were a...
