Yes, any thinking person without a psychological bias can see that our finite Universe and existence is no accident.

    Atheism is absurd.

It's impossible at the moment to prove or disprove the existance of a Deity or what form he, she, it or they might take.

Anything that comes my way, anything that tempts me, any tragedy that befalls me—I am capable of overcoming it and achieving spiritual victory. That does not mean it will always be easy. Quite the contrary—the fact that I may need a “way of escape” indicates that God sometimes allows difficult trials to come into my life. I may not believe that I can overcome it, I may doubt my own strength to prevail, and I may even fail in the temptation. That does not mean, though, that I am not capable of overcoming that particular temptation. Whether it is a temptation to sin or a temptation to doubt God, God promises that we will be able to overcome it. I turn over all my worries to God!

I won't pretend to know. There are more possibilties than we can imagine. I doubt Mankind may ever find the answer to that question, and eventually may become forgotten altogether as absurd the further we advance into the Universe.

They keep using those same old tired, out of date, inaccuate, and discredited "studies" from people like Paul Cameron. The same old "research" gets re-packaged and published by someone every few years. I got into this with a certain SH, you know her well, when she provided a link to a Catholic web site that had one of these "scientific studies". There were passages lifted, literally word for word, directly from Cameron's "study" in the 1970's. Idiots, all of them.

You must have much faith even when faced with the fact that Your religion was copied from almost every major one that predates it, which were metaphors for the sun and stars. Almost every disciple was copied from pagan gods, fifty virgin birth stories, summer solstice and the ressurection of Christ, the list goes on and on and on and on.

At the very least, you acknowledge that there is no empirical evidence to support your belief. Since your belief is based solely upon faith, then it is no different than any other unsupported system of belief. One could equate your belief in a deity with another person’s belief in unicorns.

In no sense of the word am I a Philistine.

Name calling does nothing to advance your unsupported claim.

    I am not a philistine.

First, I am not descended from the Indo-European people who appeared in the southern coastal area of Canaan at the beginning of the Iron Age.

Secondly, I place great value on art, beauty and intellect. I even place great value in spirituality.

Secular spirituality emphasizes humanistic ideas on qualities such as love, compassion, patience, tolerance, forgiveness, contentment, responsibility, harmony, and a concern for others, aspects of life and human experience which go beyond a purely materialist view of the world, without necessarily accepting belief in a supernatural reality or divine being.

You must live a horrible life; secular beliefs and used to control and scare people more than religion is. The doctrine of Global Warming is a great example.

It is what it is. If we can save them, then we will. Just because we may not succeed in saving everyone, does not mean we do not try. However, if you believe in free will, good luck with that.

(Oh, and if you believe we all have free will, then those who are starving have the same, right?)
