IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS HAD THE AUTHORITY TO SWAT OR SMACK A STUDENT FOR BAD BEHAVIOR THEY WERE MUCH BETTER BEHAVED - THERE IS STRONG EVIDENCE THAT SUGGESTS THIS IS TRUE !! SOCIETY AS WHOLE ENDURED MUCH BETTER THEN.

If it is regulated to take out the evil teachers who would find pleasure in disciplining children then it is a very important deterent to use in schools....i feel school has become a playground for unruly kids who do what they want with there "you cant touch me" attitude

If corporal punishment is allowed in schools, it attracts sadists to the teaching profession I know what I'm talking about, we had this cruel young woman teacher, she was about 18, she clearly enjoyed whipping 10-year old boys, then made us tell her how thankful we were. My parents removed me from the school.
- i was a teacher for several years in high school, then 35 years in college.

no one can be a teacher at 18 --so your story is full of holes -- I was in public schools when corporal punisment was allowed and believe me I'm thankful for each and every time I got a whipping ( I deserved it ) I turned out to be an outstanding leader

In 1948, in France, a teacher could be 18, or possibly 19, in a French parochial primary, elementary, school. No need even to have a high school degree, known here as "le baccalauréat". Any other "holes" in my story?

nope -great response : ) -- I think during the 1880's all one needed was an 8th grade education to teach here in the USA

It believe there is a controlled way to do it but it has to be monitored very closely. If you have co-pun, the teachers would have more control over the class. At the same time you don't want a teacher picking on your child. You also don't want some perverted teacher hitting your child on the butt for sexual pleasure.

it was allowed wnen I went to school and it was out of control. You got pushed, slapped, punched, pinched, and so on.
This does not teach respect it teaches fear and fear causes rebellion.
While we were knocked around in school I was not at home.

My parents told them if they continued with this they would remove me from the school. Loss of tuition would chill them for awhile.

AS LONG AS THE PARENT IS NOTIFIED BY THE PRINCIPAL..USED TO WORK WHEN I WAS A KID..I WENT ONCE GOT 2 SWAT'S..LAST TIME..BEEN A GOOD EVER SINCE..NEVER GOT IN TROUBLE AGAIN..PLUS I HAD TO FACE MY FOLK'S WHEN I GOT HOME..SHOOT I LEARNED MY LESSON...
