Unfortunately everyone does not get a happy ending with love. It takes a lot of work to keep a relationship with that one person intact ... probably better to say love does have it's rewards.

movies are portrayed like that because people want an escape, even a limited one, from the reality of the world around them. people may claim that they are happy but it rarely is an honest statement, there is always something that could make them happier.

Yes, at least for a period of time they do. There's nothing like real love. . . that does not mean it will last forever however. . or even if it does last other issues might pop up causing it to be described as less than a happy ending.
