I read in more detailed news story about this yesterday that this kid had already been charged with making harassing phone calls to someone, threatening to rape and kill them, what 13 year old does this? and then she went and does this to a 3 year old girl who she just met at McDonald's? She is clearly deranged, she should of been ordered to have a psychiatric evaluation, It is people like this who become a danger to society, I don't know, every time I hear of this girl I get really bad vibes.

The hair would be short and uneven for months...but if you shave her head, it will last longer..... :)

i sort of agree with cutting off her hair but at the same time does it really mean she should get less of a punishment just for cutting her hair?

Sometimes poetic justice is what makes people sit up and take notice. The girl in question didn't think about how her actions would affect the toddler's life, and I hope the punishment at least inconvenienced the teen.

If I was the judge I would have in no unclear terms let her know that she is lucky I wasn't her father. Because if she was a kid of mine I would have truly tanned her behind thoroughly

i read the story and it pissed me off that some teenager would corner someone 10 years younger than them and do this

the poor kid must've been terrified!!!!!!

i would've rather they buzzed the teen girl's head entirely, but i guess chopping her ponytail off was good enough

If she chopped off another girls hair, she should have had the option to Shave her head, or continue to serve community service.
    I like that judge lol

They should donate the hair to "Locks of Love". Also, it will show these girls how it feels to have their hair cut off like that. The hair will grow back.

Sounds good to me! And I agreed with the beautician that commented on the story, let the three year old do the hair cut! Who messes with a toddler anyway. Really, what is wrong with kids these days???

Well, it's okay, but I don't see it being very effective. If a teen is cutting a 3-year-old's hair, there is something seriously wrong with them mentally, and cutting their hair too is not going to take care of it. I would like to know more about this story before making a final judgment. It just sounds like we aren't hearing the whole thing.

I would have put the teen on a 72 hour mental hold as well, to see what prompted her to cut a three year old's hair off. Sounds like a few slices short of a full loaf.

Judge 13 year old girl gets lighter sentence if her ponytail gets cut off
I think the cutting of the hair was appropriate. It was a quick way of cutting time off her sentence.

It was done to teach this child empathy. Now she knows how it feels to have your hair cut against your will.

I did something similar with my Gail. She was not a bully and didn't hurt anyone. However, one day at daycare she broke all the crayons in the crayon box. So when we got home, I made her break all her own crayons. She was not happy about it but she never broke or destroyed anyone else's stuff again.

Right up there with biting your kids back to teach them not to bite. There are more appropriate ways that would be more effective, if she has done all some stories are claiming, she needs psychiatric help and some time in juvenile detention to find out what her problem really is. This type of behavior is unusual for a female.

She was what, 13? At that age embarrassment is a pretty effective form of punishment. And no one gets hurt. If anything, she got off easy. If she didn't have the community service with it then I'd say it was too easy.
