Kill it to eat, or to defend your life; otherwise, don't kill it.

No - I don't care for sport hunting. What's the sport in killing another being? Hunt with a camera, go for the good shot, the one that allows the deer or the bear or the elk its life.

If you're hunting for food, to provide for your family, that's another matter. But having a garden and some chickens is better...but that's just my opinion.

'Sport' to me, is when two opponents face one another in the ring, or as part of a team or whatever, and each adversary, or each side has at least a sporting chance of being victorious in the contest. What is NOT sport is where an idiot-or idiots-arm themselves with firearms with the sole intention of blasting innocent animals to death 'for pleasure'
The correct word to describe activities of that nature is BARBARIC....

The killing of wildlife may need to be done for various reasons, but I cannot comprehend WHY any human would enjoy doing it. Perhaps a latent beastliness, or enjoyment of power over a creature who hasn't a chance against men's weapons. Who can understand the ways of an evil man?

Most of these big time hunters don't waste the meat, in one form or another it is all used wisely, not like the old days where they killed 1000's of buffaloes and left the meat and they took just the skin, that is still appalling to this date.

It is "STILL appalling to THIS date" that men should be encouraged and considered normal to indulge in using animals to wallow in their adivistic pleasure of killing!

No good hunter will just kill and leave it. I'm a hunter and we for sport, and to eat it. Nothing goes to waste at all. Trophy hunts? What for?

Do you not think there are enough hunters who kill for food to correct the environmental problems you mentioned? Do you, who admittedly don't enjoy killing for pleasure, wish to condone and encourage those base desires in others?

Does it follow that we should encourage and hire a person who takes pleasure in killing humans to flip the switch or administer the drugs to felons under the death penality?

    Unacceptable. Unacceptable!

As long as you eat what you kill. Make sure you practice with your weapon of choice so that you get a good clean kill.

Of course I'm against hunting animals for sport - as any sane human being would be. Killing for survival is one thing - but killing for fun is quite another. Those who indulge in the latter will often try and convince you that it is for survival because they eat the meat. Few people in the western world are that hard up that they need to kill animals to survive - no, they do it because they enjoy it!

Of course. One can easily donate the meat if you don't want it. Herd populations are quite manageable with hunting.

Well! I suppose it is slightly better than letting these men-beasts hunt humans solely for the pleasure of the kill. I do wonder just how big the step is from taking pleasure from killing wildlife to taking pleasure in killing humans.

Yes, I understand that, and I don't want them to starve. But to turn loose on these creatures those who kill for ENJOYMENT! My mind just won't wrap around that. Hunting for meat to eat is one thing; Hunting to satisfy a killer instinct is another.

I suppose that hunting primarily to put meat on the table could possibly be a "task." But, any other reason for hunting wouldn't qualify for being a task.

What, may I ask, are your reasons for hunting?

I used to hunt. I don't anymore. But I support hunters. The #1 killer animal in the US is deer. There are simply too many of them and the run into cars.

Yes, since we are taking away their habitat, you are right. But I STILL make ugly faces about the hunters who uncaringly leave wounded, suffering animals, cut off their antlers and let the meat rot, and rejoice in their death.

There is little I can do about it though. Thanks for posting!

Real hunters practice to be good shots so that thay make clean kills. Real hunters hunt sober. Real hunters know what they are shooting at and never kill over the limit. But an animal can move at the last moment and a shot can result in a wound instead of a kill. In that case, a real hunter will persue the wounded animal and kill it. A real hunter will field dress the animal and bring it in for processing; giving the meat to orphanages is easy at the processing plant.

I like hunters. I don't like killers, either.

Ha ha. This clip sums the whole hunting thing up beautifully. When confronted with a dangerous wild animal for real - Big macho guy screaming like a little girl!! This is what happens when you take guns out of the equation. Man likes to think he is top of the food chain. If it weren't for the invention of guns - he would be way down it. I've always thought there was something disingenuous about the image of a macho man with a gun - and here's the proof...
