Definitely our society does force them to grow up too fast and is too eager to destroy their innocence. It's sad.

I think we push children to hard and to fast to act like adults. Kid's need time to be kid's they will have plenty of time in the future to deal with adult situations and problems. I hate to be in a salon getting my hair done and in walks a mother getting her ten year old a make over. I'm like what the heck!!! Come on!! It's crazy ten year olds getting spray tans and waxes. I find it very disturbing and never have understood that type of parents true intentions for their child.

I realized that back in the 80s when I was working in a children's dept. of a clothing store and an 8 yr old was fighting with her mother over the size of a pair of jeans she wanted. Her mother wanted her to get the next size up from what she tried on and the child responded with, "But they don't look sexy on me." I can't imagine what is SUPPOSED to look sexy about an 8 yr old, but I know what my mother would have said to me in the same situation. ("You'll get what I tell you to get or you'll get nothing.")

YES in many ways we do. Like pushing adult (sex) stuff onto kids....but at the same time people do not give them the responsabilty they need to become HEALTHY adults.
What do you get?
A bunch of adults that are over sexed, self centered, and can not take responsability for themselves or their actions.
Just look around....I know everyone know more then a few people like that (or you yourself are). It's an epidemic these days.
