Do stressed out men prefer heavier women? Apparently so, according to a study reported by Time magazine. The study, published in the journal PLoS ONE, reports that "when men were placed in stressful situations, then asked to rate the attractiveness of women of varying body sizes, they tended to prefer beefier frames, compared with unstressed men whose tastes skewed thinner."
“This suggests that our body size preferences are not innate, but are flexible,” said study co-author Martin Tovée of Newcastle University in the U.K., in an email, noting that they may be influenced by our particular environment and resources.

Most men prefer leggy and lean women, Gisele Bündchen lookalikes, right? Not necessarily. In fact, the body type that a man finds attractive can change depending on his environment and circumstances, a new study finds: when under stress, for instance, men prefer heavier women.

And the bottom line is, no matter how a person appears, ultimately, it is HOW a person is as an individual that matters in relationships and life.
It's amazing how some unattractive men can make blatant remarks or judgments. They have grown up in a world of "imagery" and became fixated by perfection and believe this is the norm, knowing little or nothing it seems, of connecting to another except through looks and sexuality. I blame a lot of factors on this, but why haven't there been efforts made to alter this? I feel sorry for young females who still have an entire lifetime to endure with this and from what I've observed, attitudes with dating seem the same as always.
Now, it's NOT all men, depending on how they were raised and being exposed to when young, how much they learned to connect emotionally to others, had good relationships with family members, etc., but they may be few and far between. (Sorry for the length).
I wonder what it would be like if men had ever had to endure what women have - they have no idea. (After Dustin Hoffman played a woman in "Tootsie", he said he had such sympathy for what women had to go through, just to get dressed and maintain themselves). There are many aisles in stores solely devoted to women's beauty products with nothing equal for men. Women are convinced to use products that may do little or nothing and are spending money in order to build self-esteem - not to mention the ones that go for plastic surgery. And for what? They still experience what everyone else does in life and does it really make things better? Doubtful. (There's just a lot I've pondered on the subject -- sorry for going on).
And absolutely, there are some lovely, balanced men out there who may have wives or girlfriends who are lucky to have them.
Yes, it would be great if the whole thing was realized and considered and if something could be taught future generations at least so this doesn't continue. Too bad, it seems things are too far gone for the current generations. Thanks for your comments.
but looking into htis farther i say soooo you are basically saying different people like different things....and it changes with stress ok
So what about women?
Again - I guess it comes down to the person - there are females who are attracted to superficial aspects, too.
Its a sad sad world
