As much as I love animals, even THAT can be taken to the extreme , and Peta does it. I think they are out more for attention, a couple one time got naked and wrapped themselves in gianty "meat holder" styrofoam things with saran wrap!!!!

When they walk naked to claim to prove a point about fur, yes. It's total exhibition on their end. The true message and cause gets lost for the most part. People are too busy looking at nudity.

YES .. they do ..
Virginia (state) publishes the kill rate at shelters in its jurisdiction .. and far and away .. PETA does have the highest KILL rate of all shelters ..
I'm also someone who will go out of my way to Expose any SCAMS/FRAUDS that PETA is trying to pull when I am traveling on business too (needless to say .. I DID save some folks some $$$ when PETA was on the streets ... gathering credit card numbers/cash for the SCAM .. and I KNEW .. being from this area .. that they were not only NOT THERE .. but did NOTHING for that area too (and that was the basis of the scam for $$$) ..
I'm not trilled by the antics (the flour and other stupidity)
I'm not trilled by the obvious paying of these celebs either ..

IF you want to help ANIMALS .. please go help your local no-kill shelters .. they truly would enjoy your help .. and you know the funds you are donating are really going to help the ANIMALS .. (not into some celeb's pockets).

Peta tends to go overboard in general. The Humane Society and ASPCA are much better animal cruelty organizations who don't purposely try to be offensive....

Very reasonable people. I can imagine them walking around in their own version of the meat dress Lady Gaga wore for the MTV Awards, made out of the flesh of all the babies that have ever pulled a dogs tail.
On a lighter note I know someone who has a cousin who was married to someone who knew a guy who knew a PETA member, apparently he stood on a spider by accident and they petrol bombed his house.

Some people go really overboard with the PETA thing. The calling of fish "sea kittens" to keep people from eating fish was one too many for me.

Peta is trying to help... because there is a few wackos who support them does not mean bashing and stirring up extra greif for them is not extreme on your part...

I love animals, I've got several pets but I have no problem wearing fur so long as it's vintage. I don't believe in the slaughtering of animals for fashion, although I guess I'm hypocritical to say that as I wear deodorant, perfume and make up when the majority of those are tested on animals, but I do believe that the animal who died deserves more respect than to just be thrown out like rubbish.
PETA would let a homeless person freeze on the streets rather than have them wearing fur.

I've heard stories of PETA members standing outside of a kindergartner class and telling the children walking out that there mothers are murderers.

If killed an animal...which considering I'm a meat eater I tend to do indirectly. Then wearing anything else which is part of the animal I'm fine with. I wear leather. I wear wool and next year if my dog decides to shed as much as he did this year I swear I'll be getting a new jumper... doggy wool =3 Apparently it's quite comfy >.>

There is advocating animal rights, then there is PETA. PETA's heart is in the right place, however, they tend to over-exaggerate and then claim foul at every little turn. They find problems when there are none.

For example, I try to keep up with their ideals that way I actually know why I don't like them and as of right now, they are pushing people to go Vegan (vegetarian is acceptable, but Vegan is their ultimate goal). So I got curious and ordered their free vegetarian starter kit. All it is, is a magazine that has some recipes (some look good I will admit) while a couple of pages are devoted to telling you the health benefits of becoming vegan/vegetarian. The bulk of the magazine though, was dedicated to their usual animal cruelty propaganda. While some farms are like the ones they describe, it is not the bulk. While I understand (and somewhat agree with) their want to bring these horrible conditions to light, I was highly disappointed with them for putting it in that magazine.

On a happier note, I do enjoy looking at their celebrity ads with the animals, they're usually cute! Like this one, it's tastefully done.
