Their job is to make music, nothing more. It's not up to us to tell them how to live their own lives because so many people in our society are too weak minded to live their own without looking to celebrities for inspiration.

One my favorite musicians said somethings along the lines of this "If people want to look up to me as a role model, then fine. But if they find something about me that they don't like, they should just apply that to themselves to make their own life better instead of criticizing me."
And I agree with his answer. It can apply to promoting a healthy lifestyle too.

No, that's up to yourself to do for yourself. Why do "we" make others responsible for our choices? Crazy!

...but it would be helpful if they "chose" to assume such a responsibility.

Were you serious with this question?? Unless it's a christian rock star, the only things i ever see them promoting are SEX, DRUGS, ALCOHOL, and SATANISM. When you think about it all of those things go hand in hand with the music industry especially with Rock and Rap...not exercising and eating right.

But, ohmygawd, I'd love to see it. Mick Jagger does a milk commercial. Yes! I wish I were good enough on the net to photoshop it. :)

No, but I respect them more if they do. The public is just as guilty of glorifing drugs as rock stars.Lots of jazz musicians did drugs but many went to rehab.Rockabilly too. Elvis
only did acid once and didnt dig it.Drugs are less glorified in jazz than rock.

None -- the rock stars should throw them back. Gently and compassionately. :)
