I think some do. I know my parents tried quite hard to be even with all of us, even though my sister, Gwen, being the middle child, tended to think everyone else had favouritism but her.

Some do, and sometimes it's the children who think they do. Each child is unique , with their own special talents and mannerism. Each has their own capabilities, and as a parent I would focus on that.

At different times for different things I have shown favoritism towards one of my kids. Not ever all the time though. I think its good for them to be number one some of the time. It kind of teaches them how to share friends and parents and such.

You will the prize! When she died this year, my sister had gotten mom to put every thing in her name. Mom left $250,000 in assits. I did not even get a hand full of dust bunnies from under Ma's bed. They also stuck me with the flower bill. Refused a funeral mass, so I had one without the remains. I thought my sister was my best friend. I can not put into words how it broke my heart.

My mom bless her heart, now gone, loved her sons and did not even try to cover it up.
Now my dad, also gone, favored his oldest daughter, which wasn't me. But that seems on how it goes, moma's boy and daddy's girl. My other sister and I accepted it and have laughed about our mother's boldness with her feelings about her sons.

My mother always insisted that she didn't have a favorite, but it was pretty obvious to everyone else that my second-oldest brother was everyone's favorite. Once my brothers were having an argument about who was which parent's favorite. My oldest brother thought he was my dad's and my other brother was my mom's. My second oldest brother thought he was my dad's and my oldest brother was my mom's. When I pointed out that I was left out of the argument (we were all adults... this was only a few years ago), my second oldest brother said, "Well, yeah, you weren't anyone's favorite." He was joking but... that didn't make it any less true.

I know mine sure did....I got so tired of being compared all the time to my brothers or sisters. As a parent I would say that each child being different you learn to appreciate their differences and depend of them for their qualities that they may have. I tried never to compare my children, but they do each have their own unique set of qualities that may or may not be appreciated as much.
