Do Men Prefer Mean Girls?

We recently explored whether women are attracted to jerks. But is the same true for guys? A writer for How About We says women are "mean if we don't really want to settle down with one guy (but we don't feel like being 100 percent single)." Also, she adds, "We might continue the tradition of meanness if we’ve grown up with it in our own families." But is all this a turn-on for guys?

Men’s Fitness thinks it is, for the following reasons:

1) The "Hard to Get" Factor: Just as Groucho Marx said, "I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member." Sadly, if a woman is not interested in a man, he might be more interested.

2) Men Are Commitment Challenged: If a woman isn't nice to a guy, it gives him an "out." Meaning he doesn't have to get married and have babies anytime soon.

3) Too Much Media: Pop culture portrays mean girls as sexy, and guys are confused.

4) "Mommy" Issues: If his mom was like Mommie Dearest, odds are he's looking for the same. Do you think guys prefer mean girls?

I think men prefer nice, sweet girls that they can have fun with. Who wants a mean girl that is cruel to them and to others. Mean is not attractive at all.

To your original post. Most men - men, that is, and not teenage boys - are not fooled by the hotness of a woman. They do prefer a nice woman instead.

Just my opinion, of course.

That's good to know, im not saying men are fooled by good looks, just that with a lot of them, they are only interested in a girl if she is good looking, and when most guys say they prefer a nice woman, what they really want is a nice, good looking woman, not a nice ugly woman. I'm not saying all men are like that, just the majority. I think its simply that men are in general more visual creatures, more sexually oriented when they choose a woman.

Well, sure, if she's nice *and* good-looking that's great.

And it's true that men are initially attracted to a good-looking woman, but if she's a bitch, then in the long run, it won't last, and he'll bolt.

a lot of guys like me and im very nice. im actually one of the nicest girls (not that there isnt nicer out there either hence the "one of the" part). guys dont like bitches cause it hurts their feelings. of course the arrogant guys deserve it because they should learn what it means to get their feelings hurt.

If you're "nice," then you probably attract "relationship-minded" males. Those who aren't "relationship-minded" tend to go for looks, first, not really caring about personality, too much, because they're not after something serious.

This is so obvious. Guys don't want mean girls. If an unattractive woman was mean, she wouldn't increase her attractiveness. In fact, she would probably get shot. (Because for many males, it's a crime to be unattractive and mean at the same time, lol)

Men desire outer beauty. The girls who happen to be pretty tend to be stuck up (as a result, mean). Guys just put up with it because they're hot.

Men's Fitness = fail.
