The soul is basically the personality or essence of what makes one an individual.
Dogs are not and do not have a spirit. People are sometimes incorrectly said to have a spirit. Actually people are not a body with a spirit, but rather a spirit temporarily inhabiting a body. The spirit is eternal. After this life we go to eternity either in Heaven or Hell.

Yes they do. Every living thing has a soul. Even the plants. I believe the Goddess lives in all things, and through all things, which means everything has a soul. Not objects like pencils or bricks. And besides. Look into a dog's eyes that has been abused, and what do you see? You see pain, you see fear, you see the feeling of being abandoned. If dog's didn't have souls, you would see nothing in their eyes, a deep dark void.

Not only dogs but ALL animals have souls. The Vatican announced this quite a few years ago and I was very elated over it. After all, God created them so why shouldn't they have little souls too? :-)

What in gods name is a soul. Personality yes. Souls as I understand them are a figment
Or an overactive imagination in someone who thinks their being can go on forever.

I think all animals do. Because sometimes you see them doing things that aren't in their nature, that defy their instincts -- why else would they do those things?

No. not according to the biblical definition of a soul. I went to a private catholic school till I was 12 and I was taught that animals do not have souls, but I myself have always been a life long atheist.

The bible does not implicitly say animals do not have souls, but it was explained to me that animals are inferior to man. Animal sacrifices to God were common in the old testament, and also they happened in the new testament most notably as done by even the parents of Jesus who sacrificed two doves to God (Luke 2:24) and in (Acts 21:23-26) Paul used animal sacrifice for purification purposes.These were directed towards and accepted by God.

We sacrifice animals today as well (KFC 2012) and then we bread them add salt and pepper and fry them in oil.

People have souls maybe Dogs, I don't know, but yes there is a God, and a Jesus.

All creatures have a life force aka a soul. Why do humans think we are something special? Oh, that's right because we can think abstractly and believe in unseen and unprovable forces.
