The Holy Bible says allot of messed up stuff. Animals not having souls is one of them.
To watch an elephant gather around and mourn the deceased remains of it's fellow kind. The emotion, intelligence and affection a dolphin displays when interacting with humans. The true friendship we share with our pets and the affection they show us.
I have a book shelve of urns of passed pet family members. I am starting to feel like a vampire outliving those I love.

Pat 2012/05/01 02:17:52All living things have souls, even insects!+3I believe all living things contain a "life force". Some may call it a soul but I don't know what to call it exactly. But I know it's there. I can feel it in myself, other people, my pets and all living things, even trees, flowers, as living things, have it. So I believe all things have what some call "souls".

The thought has changed on this over the last ten years or so, that, yes, animals do go to heaven and we will see our pets that have gone before us when we get there!
A book is out now (whose name I cannot remember but will find out if anyone is interested), that is a compilation of theologians, such as Billy Graham and Jack Van Impe, who quote scripture to back up the fact that animals will go to heaven.
Your elephant analogy is excellent. I've seen elephants do some amazing things on the documentary and animal planet channels. How could a dolphin not go to heaven?
We'll see cats and dogs in heaven and we'll see our own cats and dogs there. It's a big place. There's room for everything.
I love lady bugs too, and they're good for your garden! I have to agree with you about snakes, especially the ones people had that got too big to be kept in a household (like reticulating pythons who people stupidly let go in the Everglades. It's changing the whole eco system there and the snakes have reached some neighborhoods and are expanding further).
Having lived in a subtropical area of the country for a while, I'm not wild about alligators. Especially if there is a drought, they show up all over the place, as in people's swimming pools, and I had to check the backyard to make sure it was safe before I let my dogs out. Salt-water crocodiles are supposed to be horrendous!
On a pleasant note, yes, there is a heaven and, yes, you'll see all your beloved pets.
Once nature is restored and in balance, animals will be able to communicate with us by speaking. Won't that be great?
When you hear about Eve and the snake that talked her into eating whatever fruit it was, she wouldn't have been worried about the fruit, she would have freaked out over this snake that's talking to her if she wasn't used to that happening.
As far as heaven is concerned, if you look deeply inside yourself, you can feel a sense of eternity within you. Your body dies, but your soul knows no limits. We're all hard-wired to have a sense of eternity. Some people just choose not to recognize it.

If this is being looked at from a Biblical point of view, the Bible states ever clearly that all animals including man, are "living souls" NO WHERE does it say that man or the animals have eternal "spirit souls" of any kind except to those granted such by being chosen out of the earth to serve as kings and priests along side Jesus in heaven. Those are "incorruptable" as is the resurrected Jesus.
So the end answer is that Animals, man included, do not have eternal 'spirit souls"
Well that is what it says. and if you don't have that kind of hope then Oh well.
t like and give it a pass.
I believe that ones own karma is a reflection on how they live their lives. Be bad to me and eventually it will come around to haunt you. Remeber the old saying "Payback is a MoFo"
But to answer your question, I'd probably throw it in the fire along with the other kindling to stay warm.
And for a rethink, in 2000 years 99.9 % of all books published today will have rotted away into nothing anyway. So the question is mute.
I'm not being an ass or anything, just ask reasonable questions and you'll get reasonable answers

Assuming the skill of reading had survived and the Golden Tables were written in the language I could read, I doubt that I would believe any of what was written in a Harry Potter book 2000 years removed from the date of authorship.
And I am certain IF I found a book of Golden Tables I'm melt them down for trading, IF trading was developed again.
I know that Blossom (Vietnamese) did sell cat when they first opened but had to stop because of an uproar about it.
Oh well You could send out to both Vietnam and South China for some to be imported back here.
Of course you could do what a Philippeano did that I used to know, go to the pound and get a nice big dog or cat and serve them up as lumpia.
I've been to Yang Chow's.
LOL
Not ever going to try to convert anyone. To each his own thing
Actually, we do have a loving and righteous God; it's people who screw things up, sadly.
I've had both dog and cat as the main dishes of a meal in many places in the world. Philippeans for the dog and SEA and southern China for the cat. Cat testicles are supposed to enhance sexual performance and dog heart is supposed to provide courage.
But both when cooked correctly are very good tasting.
