No, kids should get to splurge once in awhile. We don't need to be sugar Nazi’s 24/7!
Yes, cake is enough! If you want a dessert table, how about a big plate of fruit? It’s sweet. :)

My daughter has a sweet tooth so we don’t keep a lot of candy or sweets in the house, but I don’t mind if she indulges at a birthday party. If you are looking for dessert table ideas, check out these parties withunbelievable dessert tables.

And if your children are active and full of energy, you don't need to regulate their food to keep them healthy. And even then, it's no good to never give them treats. If anything, being balanced about it ENFORCES good eating habits, because if you never let your kids have anything unhealthy, when they discover cake and ice cream and candy, you certainly won't be able to say they know how to control their intake of it.

What teaches it is parents not taking the time to teach proper dieting, and not making them go out and be active.

no, it does not reinforce bad eating habits. i believe parents enforce bad eating habits. my cousin had a dessert table at her birthday party and the kids barely took anything. if you go to a party with your children and there is a dessert table and you're afraid your child is going to pick up bad eating habits, then tell your children limits on how much they could have. also, your children probably don't eat like that all the time. one splurge wont make your child fat.

Parents Reinforce Bad Eating Habits. Kids copy. I think the only solution is don't have kids.
    its all your fault

Not having kids is the best way to end the parents bad habits. This also stops kids from becoming a bad habit!

It's ok if you treat yourself every now and then, especially if you have a good diet to begin with. I heard a nutritionist say: "Restricting what a child eats too much can cause an eating disorder later in life, but not having enough restrictions (portion control and nutrition) can lead to obesity". You can also offer healthy alternatives at a birthday, but honestly, it's a birthday party, aren't they supposed to get that sugar rush?

People should be allowed to choose what they want to eat. The kid doesn't have to eat anything on the table that he/she doesn't want to. If they choose to eat something, great! If they don't, that's fine too. Plus kids can run around and play outside so they exercise.

Inconsequentially small but distinctive measures like removing the big dessert table at a birthday party is usually done to internally justify consistent, systemic problems that ACTUALLY make a difference. Give your kid water instead of soda for lunch, an apple instead of a candy bar for snack, and if you do that every day, then the kid can stuff himself with cake just short of exploding for his birthday, and he will be fine in the long run. Everything in moderation. Even excess.

A B-day party is a party. It's really up to the parents, and if the kids are healthy, what's wrong with cake and ice cream and other desserts ( in absence of diabetes and lactose intolerant etc.) ?

Not at all. As far as my family is concerned, I make sure they eat fruit instead of candy or other sweets, but I don't see the problem with giving them candy some of the time, like at a party, Halloween, or as a treat now and then. It's not really a big deal.

More like wasteful. When you have a party why do you really need eight dozen cakes and pies spread out across a giant table? I have nothing against cake and ice cream...in moderation, of course. But what people with these huge spreads usually end up with is eating like a tenth of the food on the table at the actual party, then everyone ends up cramming their fridges full of cake and freezers overflowing with excess ice cream. Seriously all you really need are one or two cakes and maybe a few buckets of ice cream...maybe a couple more of each if the party is REALLY big but I really don't understand the need to fill an entire table with desserts.

Haha isn't one of the tenets of Satanism not to be too full of yourself? I would say that a massive table full of cakes is pretty much the definition of being arrogant and full of yourself. It's kind of narcissistic to think that your party even needs such a ridiculous display just so it can look colorful and pretty. These desert tables that the party guests only eat like a tenth of are nothing but eye candy and are mainly for stroking the ego of the host of the party. Seriously use party decorations if you want your party to look festive cakes are for eating and you only need one or two really good cakes to contribute to an awesome party and make everyone there happy and filled up at the same time and probably save a lot of money, too. I wasn't going to bother "spewing" any of that but if you want to donate some of the money you saved to people less fortunate well that'd be great, too. ;p

They probably do what most people do when they have tons of left overs at a party and just give it as little doggy bags and such.

I think most of the desert table is candies to which is more portable than said ice cream.
