I don't even know if I believe in souls but if they exist then animals have them. They show emotions and feel pain just like we do, they just can't talk like we do.

Neither do humans. Unless you can prove what a soul is, or exist.

The short answer is no - God breathed life into man and created in him a soul. The long answer is there are Biblical truths that point to animals in the heavens - Horses are often mentioned as being ridden by the army of God.

That is definitely proof of morality and altruistic behavior in animals. I have been saying that for years and people have been laughing at me.

Actually, animals ARE souls. The soul is the whole person, spirit and body. Animals have spirits (Ecclesiastes 3:21) and bodies, therefore they are souls.

What is the defining characteristic that separates a live person from a dead one ?
  • zeldama... ray 2012/07/28 18:53:12

The brain gives off no electrical signals in a dead person.
  • ray zeldama... 2012/07/28 20:04:26

The heart don't beat the lungs don't breath . All this can be made to happen with machinery and they would still be dead. All the chemistry is in place and the functions operational and still they would be dead.
Death is the absence of the soul.
  • zeldama... ray 2012/07/28 20:18:10
    zeldamaster17~平和
Actually, it's all to do with the brain. If the brain shuts down, you can't reinstate it. If you can keep the brain alive, however, you can pump the rest with machinery.
  • ray zeldama... 2012/07/28 20:38:40

Perhaps , I think there is a lot more to it than simple chemistry .

There is absolutely no evidence of a soul \medical science has never found one yet.
  • ray bricklyn 2012/07/29 10:23:07

medical / science still has a lot to learn . Research is constant .

Well, religion is a closed system and refuse to lean anything. You are assuming that uneducated superstitious ancient herdsman from the Bronze Age are some how smarter than the highly educated scientists of today. That is hilarious.
  • ray bricklyn 2012/07/29 16:03:03
    ray
How did you arrive at the concept that religion is a closed system?
Religions deal primarily with morality , that is not to deny the mechanics of the universe.
It was a Monk that discovered Genetics. Astronomy , Mathematics, Medicine , are the domain or Religious organizations . Religions have always been on the cutting edge of Science .
Religion holds no problem with understanding science .
It is the Pseudo Scientist that are insecure with religions.
  • bricklyn ray 2012/07/29 16:15:14
    bricklyn
Religion does not allow new information into their system and will not change their belief system.

You ideas of science and the church are completely wrong. The church killed many scientists and burned their manuscripts as well,
The church has always had an enormous fear of science and rejected it though out history. The church was the most dominate force of the Dark Ages and set back humanity hundreds of years.

I would argue otherwise. It was the Church which threw a man under house arrest for saying the world revolved around the sun. But not because they rejected it right and wanted to be on the "cutting edge of science". "The cutting edge of science" leads to religious organizations to do circumcisions without painkillers and does them with the arguement that they make you cleaner which is actually false. The fact that the "church" discovered was due to the religious being the only people with two critical things: Free time and education. Astronomy is the basis of most religion and understanding astronomy requires a understanding of mathmatics. Religion is very rigid and not open to new ideas.
