Are you sick of Cinderella, Belle and the rest of the Disney princess gang? Well, then meet Disney's newest addition to the princess mix, "Sofia the First."

The company confirms to Yahoo's TheWrap that it is introducing a movie (next year) and a TV show (in 2013) that will revolve around Sofia, who becomes a princess when her mom marries a king. As a result, she inherits some fancy new dresses (looks like she'll spend a lot of time in a purple gown) as well as a new stepbrother and stepsister, and even enjoys play dates with Cinderella.
"Although Sofia will have plenty of pretty dresses and sparkly shoes, our stories will show Sofia, and our viewers, that what makes a real princess is what's inside, not what's outside," Nancy Kanter, senior vice president of programming and general manager for Disney Junior Worldwide, told TheWrap.
"That the inner character of kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty and grace make you special, not the dress you wear. In Sofia, we have a 'peer to peer princess,' a relatable girl experiencing the same social issues as our young viewers … learning how to fit in, making new friends, conquering new skills and building sibling relationships." Sofia seems like a great gal, but we're kind of sick of Disney princesses -- and little girls' obsession with them. How about you?

I would have just added the pics but its best if you just went there yourself! Hahahahaha!
Featuring a younger girl could be nice. Personally I found Don Bluth's young Snow White analog, Anne Marie, from All Dogs Go To Heaven (not a Disney property) very charming, but I recall many were put off by the dated Shirley Temple cuteness.
By the same token, Dora the Explorer repulses me, though she's clearly popular. It's more in the limited animation than the design -- though she does look like a cartoon version of Weng Weng.
As for Disney girls, I'm not so contrary. Although I wasn't that impressed with his designs initially (Ariel seemed reedy and her expressions often strained, fi), Glen Keane has really grown on me. With the latest incarnation of his Disney girl design in Rapunzel he's packed in tons of expressiveness and cuteness, drawing elements from all the previous girls (from Eilonwy to Ariel to Jasmine to Pocohontas) together in one supreme design.
I'm just amazed watching this character in motion.

And that's one of the best dubbed movies in polish. Seen both versions, and ours is probaby even more hilarious than the original :D

Pocahontas.
And finally, Ariel!
Did I ruin it yet? ;-) Sorry, gloomy day here in ChiTown.
