It's about that time of year, when high school graduates prepare for the next phase in their lives: College. For many students, it's an uncertain and unpredictable stage. They're starting over in a big way, but know it will be more uplifting and exciting than the transition into high school. College is that ephemeral life-limbo where Facebook started, where "Animal House" took place, and where you (supposedly) decide what to do for the rest of your life.

It was ultimately my decision on what college I should attend. I did the research, I drew up the list of potential colleges, I scheduled the college visits, I decided what I wanted to study and what college would be the best fit for that, etc. The only thing was I needed to stay in state because tuition would be cheaper. They did try to get me to go to a different college than the one I am attending now, but I didn't listen.

There was no option. They were paying for it so I went to the closest one because it was least expensive. It was a few hours away from my hometown.

I mean, I pretty much decided for myself I guess but I did consult them and they helped a lot with figuring things out. They seemed as though they wouldn't mind which college I went to.
