Nam Era Vet #1 DNA TLC 2012/07/12 17:40:44No+5You might have tried that once around my Marine Master Gunney dad. But I'll bet it wouldn't happen a second time.

I know I did when I was really little, but as I got older I stopped because my mom threatened me with a good whooping if I was about to have one
My younger daughter threw terrible tantrums and we discovered that she is autistic - and visual, auditory, and olfactory issues would overwhelm her. I was a very, very good mother (still am) and loathed the unwanted "advice" I would get from passersby, when they had no clue. My daughter was not "bad." She was afraid. We would be in the mall (on a mid-week day so as to avoid as many people as possible) and she would let loose. I'd have to sit down on the floor/ground wherever we were and hold her firmly so that she wouldn't harm herself - or anyone else. There were times when her head would come flying back into my face, giving me a bloody nose and black eyes. I never spanked her or hit her... Ever. I even had teeth knocked loose. I'd break out in a sweat from having to sit there so long, just holding on - and waiting for the feeling of her body relaxing and that sigh of release.
She no longer does that. She has come a long way and most people who meet her have no idea that she is autistic, at first. LOL!
So, when you see a child throwing a tantrum, don't make assumptions. They may be autistic or they may just be an overwhelmed child. Children are not little adults, folks. Adults need to understand that...
My 2 young grand daughters will throw a tantrum + it`s awful, if they were my daughters they`d be put to bed + know this type of behaviour is unacceptable.
