I never thought about it until I read that Gary Michael Hinton was on death row in Florida for murdering people in NC, Georgia, and Florida. He had murdered some on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina, where he beheaded an elderly couple. The producer of the show said most of the stories were actually watered down because the true stories were so gruesome.

I can watch episodes of 1000 Ways to Die without being shocked, but some of the stuff on Criminal Minds is really disturbing. The first episode I ever watched was about a man who would kidnap, torture, and murder children. I've also seen an episode where a crazy cannibal feeds an unknowing search party human flesh, and an episode where a man cuts off the lips of a woman he murdered, and sows them onto the corpse of his dead mother. It's really disturbing to know that these were based on real events.

Yes, it is. I enjoy the show to a point but sometimes it's too much.

Yeah. I did some research about this and found out that the producers actually have to tone-down most of the cases for the show. The real cases are just too horrific for TV. I'd hate to be the cops and FBI agents who have to work with these cases on a near-daily bases.

The episode where Morgan's cousins was kidnapped, and held as a slave by her " husband", and she was scared to leave because of "the company" is true. Right down to the false "the company", the box he put over her head, the contract she signed, and the box she slept in under his bed. The only thing that was changed was the location of the state, and the fact that Morgan's cousin was the kidnappers wife, in the real story the mans wife helped hold the woman captive for 7 years. I

It probably is..they are based on real life happenings. They change names and places...it really shouldn't surprise anyone..so much weird crap happens in these states..of course they make the shows a lot more interesting than they really are ;)

No not really..he was a police officer for 20 years so he knew pretty much everything he needed to know..he just takes pictures and collects evidence..like I said his job is not at all like it is on the show..he gets the evidence then turns it over to people who do the dna, check finger prints, etc etc. Then he writes the reports and goes to court when called. Even if he hasn't had any sleep..He was shot in the line of duty 4 years ago. I wanted him to do what he wanted but didn't like the idea of him being in the line of fire so to speak. He had always wanted to be in the Crime Scene Unit so they offered it to him and there he is...and he loves it...messes with my sleep but knowing he was is at a crime scene and is not a crime scene makes me happy :)

thank you Jerry, he is a good man! He worked those 20 years in what at the time was the worst part of the city, now its hard to tell. But they called him Officer Friendly..I know there are cops out there that are butt heads and I can tell you don't lie to my husband cause that is one thing he doesn't like!! Be honest and it will go better..but he is a good man. Again thanks!! its been good chatting.. :)

Yeah thanks, this Detective is a hot tempered guy, & he was serving my friend court papers & his wife told him to come back cause he was on the phone & he got all loud & obnoxous & went around the corner & hit my friend upside the head causing a concussion, my friend is slowly healing from it.

Yes, like the doctor and lawyer shows. I have relatives who are lawyers and they spend most of their time pouring over reports, documents, internet, etc. and preparing their cases. Only a small amount of time is actually in court. And if they're working on something interesting, they can't talk about it anyway.

Same with the CSI..my husband has never solved a case..well maybe in his mind..but like last night I was watching a CSI episode that I hadn't seen before and they were all sitting around the table discussing this case like it was their case to solve..heck half the time unless a CSI goes to court on a case (and nine times out of ten said lawyers get it reduced or thrown out of court) they don't even know what happened! Unless it makes it to the papers.

So is Cops. I won't worry about the few depraved "criminal minds" but the day to day issues of people stuck in a disfunctional existence like on Cops could actaully have a likelihood of affecting me at some point.
