    Yes, my beloved husband Michael N. Anderson. He committed suicide on 11/21/08 by gunshot to the head. I was outside the door when I heard the sound of the gun. It is a day that I will never forget. He was an absolute beautiful man, the love of my life and I miss him every day. Please put the word out that even though Chantix is still on the market...this is not a safe drug to take to stop smoking. I hope everyone that reads this will spread the word so that they don't lose a loved one because of this too. He was only 48 years old and I became a widow at 47. My only consolation is that I will see him again in heaven.

    My grandpa chose suicide over another heart attack. A friend from high school committed suicide. A boy who sat behind me in a class committed suicide in high school. A close family friend accidentally killed himself. That is not a complete list.

    Yes. An 80+ yr old patient of mine a few months ago. About 6 yrs ago, she was brutally raped and beaten to almost the point of death in a home invasion robbery for $20. About 3 yrs later, her husband died suddenly of cancer within a month or two of diagnosis. Then about 5 months ago, we urged her to quit driving b/c her eyesight was failing her and she was pretty hearing deficient and as her health declined, doc told her she really needed to go to a nursing home since her children lived out of state. One morning, we got a call stating that someone found her with a gunshot wound to her chest which was ruled a suicide. Her note said she would NOT live in a nursing home and she realized she could no longer live at home and didn't want to be a burden to friends or neighbors so she went out her way.

    Extremely...I went home and cried. It's always sad when patients die, but sometimes it's a blessing b/c of suffering but suicide is never a blessing to anyone involved. As healthcare providers, we second guessed ourselves as what else we could have done for her. We have 1000s of patients that we take care of and most of them have been doc's patients for 30-40 yrs so it hits him hard when someone passes. Once we are notified, he goes back to his office in the back of the clinic and says a little prayer for them, takes a few moments while looking out at the horse stables, composes himself and then goes back to business. For me, I don't know alot of the patients too well b/c I've only known them for 4 years and alot of patients just don't come in as often as they should, but there are some of those patients who I have grown very attached to and they are like grandparents to me.

    A man who went to high school with my dad and lived two houses from did when I was about eleven. Years later, his son shot himself with the same gun in the same room.

    Yes, unfortunately. A girl who was on our bowling team quite a few years ago did herself in. It was a total shocker for everyone. She did it with the exhaust from her car and left a very young son.

    I tried several times and was never successful, The last time, I put a gun in my mouth pulled the trigger and missed, I don't know how because like I said the barrel was in my mouth but for a bit of dark humour... it was depressing.

    My uncle. He was always a quiet guy, we all loved him a lot, but he was thousands of dollars in debt, homosexual, and had been molested as a child, and that made him extremely depressed. He spent a lot of days at our house when I was a kid, and we made sure to show him as much love as we possibly could. Then while we were on vacation, my mom got the call that he had asphyxiated himself. It was very sad :/ I've also had multiple friends try to kill themselves, and I have a few times and often think about it.
