Did you have to read To Kill A Mockingbird when you were in grade school?

- Allie May 2013/02/04 05:20:49YesAnd Thank God, so did my son! The one book I had to read that I detested was "Silas Marner." If I reread it now, I don't know if I would like it anymore. I think it had more to do with my English teacher.reply

- Chancy99: Plague Rat 2013/01/31 13:52:51Well...We read it in high school, sophomore year I believed. I loved it. I've read it about 3 times since then, and have seen the movie twice. I really think it's a better story to be left to high school students.reply
- Rev. J. B. 2013/01/31 09:58:21Yes+1I can't remember what grade I was in, it's a great piece of American Literature. What do you not like about it?reply

+1I just don't like being forced to read a book... it takes the fun out of it, ya know?reply - SATAN 2013/01/31 09:24:20

- Daring Blasphemer BN-0 2013/01/31 04:19:03Well...+1I am saddened that you feel this way about this book. It is one of my all time favorite stories. I also had to read it for school, seventh grade I think (I was a terrible student), but even then I loved it. I wished Atticus Finch was my father. I reread it every few years. Give it a chance.reply
- flaca BN-0 2013/01/31 03:55:22Yes+1I had to read it and I was educated in the UK. That just goes to show how well thought of it is even abroad. I hope you have to read our books Lord of the Flies and 1984. Despite whether you think any of these novels are boring, they are a key part of our fabric. They are important. You need to re-approach it. TKAMB is a wonderful novel and part of your literary history. Get some pride in your heritage for goodness sake.reply
