Unless you count that we didn't get a color TV until 1967, and that we kids NEVER did convince Mom and Dad to put in the swimming pool or buy the speedboat.

Just a bit, but back then, I didn't think me and siblings were deprived at all. Guess that's a sign of familial love filling in the gaps when necessary.

Can't say that I did. There were times that were tough, but we always got through it, and we always had everything we needed.

Not especially. My parents make a good living. I was not spoiled and pampered (like my younger brother) but I always had the things I needed and a majority of things I wanted.

I had a wonderful childhood for awhile but unfortunately I was introduced to the cruelity of the world and the evil in others at an earlier age than I should have been and was shattered before I understood to joys of my youth...

I grew up poor, my Mom raised 9 kids by herself. But I have never considered myself deprived. I had what mattered, unconditional love, morals, and a strong woman who showed me that you can do anything you set your mind to.

We were not rich by any means, but I had a mother and a father who both worked hard to keep food on the table and a roof over my head. That's all I needed.

Certainly I was deprived of things material and emotional, but I was also endowed with a wonderful capacity for hoping and dreaming that transformed into a rather helpful gritty determination as I got older. It has made me scrappy. We are all the walking wounded...the key is to not let this state cause you to shut down your feelings and close yourself off from people. Time and true friendships help best I think...they offer alot in the way of healing.
