I have seen first hand how bad patients can be treated, I'm a trauma surgical nurse, I am there to speak for my patients while they are asleep and can't speak for themselves. I treat all of my patients as if they are the most important person in my life while caring for them. I have reported many floor nurses over the years for bad care. Once I went to pick up a patient for surgery, the floor nurse was in the room yelling at the patient. Telling her shut up and stop asking so many questions. I pulled the nurse out of the room and let her have it. What the nurse didn't realize is that I'm the trauma surgical coordinator at my hospital. I'm part of administration, but since I love doing patient care I have always remained an active staff nurse. After telling me she cant stand the hospital or the patients i had no choice but to report her. She ended up losing her job..

Since I'm a nurse I have always been treated well by doctors and nurses. They are on their best behavior with me because I know how the system should work..

I was recently in hospital for surgery. I had a post surgical infection followed by a nasty virus that I picked up in hospital and found some nurses to be quite rude. One night I had a fever and chills and asked for another blanket. The nurse flat out told me no and walked away. Another time during the same trip I had diarrhoea in the bed and told the nurse. She took well over an hour to change the bed linens and left me sitting in it. I understand they are rushed and overworked in many cases, but when you are feeling your worst a little compassion is nice.

@ Gloria: LOL. It's generally the DON that does the staffing that causes these types of issues.

How horrible, you should complain, some of them seem to forget their basic ethics along the way.
You may be helping other patients if you do bring up this matter . This Nurse is obviously in need of stress leave or counselling. I have seen it many times ,this behaviour , it is really a cry for help, usually related to extreme stress.
But you or any other patient shouldn`t have to be mis-treated in any way what so ever.
Get yourself some peice of mind , make a complaint soon, please don`t hesitate, for the sake of the other patients.
You`ll be a saving alot of other poor people the mis- treatment that you unfortunately had to go through, poor you my dear ! I hope you are completely better now ! xo

The bitches. When you're fully back on your feet you should go back to the hospital and give them both a good kick or two up their fat arses (if "fat" is not a wayward assumption in their cases)!

yess I'm like extremly scared of needles and hospitals and often thinking about medical things makes me faint. I remember the first time I fainted, I was getting my blood drawn and I stared at my arm. I ended up fainting, hitting my head on the counter and I had a seizure. I like had a nose bleed and my flip flop was broken it was bad and I think I was only 12. and they just gave me water and said I would be fine it was horrible. Now everytime I faint I have to be given water or else Ill faint over and over again.

In 1992 I had a bad appendix and for some reason the doctor at the hospital thought it was a good idea to stick their hand up my rear end.

Oh wow how terribly uncomfortable ! I hope that the doctor at least told you what he was about to do? How , old were you then ? I ask that because if you were a kid , it would have tripled ++++ the traumatising discomfort for you , I am sure of that. Sorry that happened to you , xo

I was 22 at the time. They were trying to figure out what was wrong. My appendix was ruptured and every time it leaked my body managed to fight the poison enough to lower my temperature and I'd be ok till the next time. They finally did a cat scan after a couple days and then wasted no time getting me into surgury.

I'm sure it would be one finger and it is just a prostate examination. Men are quite susceptible to prostate cancer.

I had a stupid specialist who decided I was celiac without testing me, wanted me to go on a gluten free diet months before I could get tested and then when it turned out I was not celiac, he decided I must have sleep apnea. Wrong about that one too. It's a long story but not only was he pretty bad at diagnosing, he was nasty to me. Other people have similar complaints about him.

Unfortunately , some aren`t only bad with their patients, they need to learn their skills again.
Someone should have complained a long time ago , so he wouldn`t have had the chance to treat others so poorly. I hope your ok now, and finally have a true diagnosis. xo

I am a nurse, a flight nurse. why would I vent to you over some BS thing. especially on SH. Are you trying to trash the person that is a go between between you and the Dr.?

Just because you are good doesn't mean they all are. In any profession people make mistakes or make the people they serve angry. I'm sure you've had your days, we all have.

By the way, the poster IS a nurse as well.

Some of my best friends are nurses and most of the doctors I have experienced have been great. But there are some professions where the bad ones can really have an impact on people. I am a teacher. There are good teachers and bad teachers and they both have an impact on people. Sometimes people just need to vent about an experience.

Can you please do it today,? so you may learn a valuable lesson from the outcome.
Like I said, I welcome any investigation with open arms, I completely have all the confidence in the world and more by anything I say regarding this issue on SH or anywhere else for that matter.
Your words will never make me feel like I have done or said something wrong here concerning this matter of BAD Nurses.
I will always and forever be there for every patient and will look out for them and make sure NO ONE is mis-treating them . That is the main reason I became a NURSE ,is to fully care for the patients.
