The religion I was raised in contradicted what was proven in my daily life, and there fore caused me to change the way I viewed life and all that it entails.

The religion I grewup with continues to be my place of comfort, peace and where I go to understand the world.

Gave it up a while ago. I just came from another "Christian" site filled with nothing but hatred and racially driven "drivel"! I'll get along without that, thank you!

During my teenage and 20's I was wavering between agnostic, deist, and atheist. In my 30's, after gaining wisdom and experience, I returned to my roots. While not very religious, I am devout.
Rene Descartes wrote about believing in religion and accepting scientific proof. While all religions have contradictions, The belief of a higher power (you are not the center of the universe) and a moral compass are what maintain my beliefs.

When my Sunday school teacher told me there was no such thing as evolution, I checked out, deceiving my parents into thinking I was still attending. I began a lifelong search for spiritual beliefs that don't try to deny reality and have been delighted with the result, and I remain a Christian, albeit a philosophical one.

Not really. Church was just a part of my growing up. I got baptized around eight and felt like everybody was waiting for me to walk right out into the street and tell everybody. I felt special for about ten minutes. As a boy I was just interested in Jesus' compassion because my world seemed so cruel.

I stopped going when I grew up Got a little bit more interested in a completely different church that was more cheerful, inclusive and diverse when I was a teen but that didn't last.

I like to think I'm a good person though. I'll go out of my way to help a total stranger much more than so-called Christians who just judge people and dress up for church.

The flavor of Christianity that I grew up on did not satisfy me but it did give me an awareness that I was lacking in faith. It instilled within me a realization that somehow I needed to come to know the truth.

It defined me in terms of moral and lifestyle, but I no longer believe in God.

no, I wasn't really raised in a religious home. Mom believed in God, but let me develop my own beliefs.

Same here. Mom was was not pushy about it. I really never got how religious she really was until I was an adult. I respect her beliefs because they give her great comfort.

I didn't really grow up with one my parents are at least somewhat christian it's just not a big part of their life and they never forced me to learn about it and they were fine when I chose to be an atheist at 6. Now I'm a non-theistic Asatruar (Norse pagan) but my views haven't changed I just discovered all my views and values were already the same as Asatru and I'm Scandinavian so it really fit lol.

Change me. I hate most religions and sects, and want to start my own. Otherwise, you could call me agnostic, I'm an unconfirmed Methodist who doesn't believe the "joke" about us being 'united'. I'm a spiritualist and have interests in Wicca and Heathen.

If your really interested in learning about paganism I'd suggest looking up the group kindred spirits here on SH it's the main pagan group and there's even a couple heathens like me too.
