She certainly has the looks for it! Miss Rhode Island Olivia Culpo was crowned Miss USA 2012 at the 61st Annual Miss USA Pageant on Sunday, after strutting her stuff in (what else) evening gowns and bikinis. To see the moment when Olivia was announced the winner, wait for the :28 mark in the video below!

"I was just so surprised, so shocked, so honored to be there," Culpo, 20, told The Associated Press. She will now represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant.

But Culpo has more than just good looks going for her. She's a sophomore at Boston University, and has made the dean's list every semester. She has been playing the cello since second grade (and believes in the importance of teaching music in schools).

As for the whole transgender scandal (the first transgender contestant to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant made it to the second to last round last month), Culpo said she thinks "it would be fair" if a transgender woman won, though some people "might be apprehensive." But, "there are so many people who have a need to change for a happier life. I do accept that because I believe it's a free country," she said. Good answer!

These things are honestly a waste of time. What exactly defines "Beauty"? It's these kind of things that creates society views on "Beauty"... -_- Beauty is undefinable and it all depends on the eye of the beholder!

Yes Yes and Yes! she's absolutely gorgeous and plays the cello! Man, what a woman. Speaking of contests - we always evaluate people on looks to some extent - some more than others - I have no problem with that; it's reality.

but she seems like a kind-hearted, decent person; i'm glad she stuck up for the trannies, unlike that halfwit who felt she had a right to decide whether or not gays could marry. all that said, it's still a meat parade--although now it must be accomplished meat with a good scholastic standing. however, had i been blessed enough to be top sirloin [as opposed to a rump roast, ahem], i might have tried to game the runway for the cash and prizes. since we're stuck with beauty pageants for the foreseeable future, now seems like a good time to launch the first MR. America and Mr. USA pageants--swimsuit competition included! Gentlemen, you may start sucking in your stomachs--
