He said to treat others as you'd want them to treat you.

And I presume that we all would want others to treat us in ways that don't involve raping us, or killing us in our mothers' wombs.

Therefore, it's safe to say that Jesus thinks rape and abortion are wrong.

He never specifically spoke about peeing on your neighbor's kitchen floor either. I hope no one thinks that means He was okay with doing that.

You could say anything was "implied". I want a better answer on why the savior of men did not condemn the barbaric act of rape anywhere in his teachings. Just say rape is wrong! But he doesn't. Because he was a man of the times, and women were property. He also says nothing about ending slavery or how women were treated in general. Why was that not discussed in his infinite wisdom? You would think the "messiah" would be against rape and slavery enough to mention it directly.

When Jesus was made fun of by the Pharasis for not washing his hands before eating he responded by scolding them for not KILLING their children for disobedience as the law of the old testament said to do. I'm not sure it's safe to ASSUME you know what Jesus thought. He clearly didn't preach against Rape, or the inhumane treatment of women at the time. Why not? Hmmmm.........

what does it matter what jesus said? All he was was a man, no better or different than you or I. He may have had a good message of peace or whatever but in these times things are a bit more complicated than anything a false deity had to say thousands of years ago

Are you prepared to offer any proof or evidence to back up that statement?

After all, you secularists constantly demand proof and evidence from us Christians, to back up our beliefs.

Why, then, do you give yourselves permission to say whatever you want, with NO proof or evidence?

If not for double standards, secularists might not have any standards at all.

can you prove that he wasn't? no, didn't think so. Noone can, theres no double standard here because you christians have no proof either only faith, which may be good for you but it doesn't prove anything. Only that we disagree. Give me proof and maybe I'll change my mind. Your argument here is the same one I can redirect to you.

You're the one making the claim that this guy who seemed otherwise to be human (the ordinary) was actually the son of a deity (the extraordinary). Therefore, the need to provide proof is yours.

Says about everyone's body being a temple to be kept holy & respected, says not to harm anyone, says to follow the law of the land, etc. But if a man find a betrothed damsel in the field, and the man force her, and lie with her: then the man only that lay with her shall die. ... For he found her in the field, and the betrothed damsel cried, and there was none to save her. -- Deuteronomy 22:25-27

Where did he define when a baby is alive? How about birth control?
  • SavageS0ul bob 2011/04/27 20:31:21

Birth control prevents a baby from even creating. All birth control does is make a cell stop in it's tracks. It's just like not having sex. Are you murdering a baby every time U don't have sex?. . . . I think not.

Jesus never spoke of these things himself, no. Nor does he address homosexuality or premarital sex. He did speak explicitly about saving the hungry, naked, thirsty, and sick, but not many seem to take THAT quite literally for some strange reason.

    "Jesus said,
Thou shalt do no murder (abortion),
Thou shalt not commit adultery (rape),
    Thou shalt not steal,
Thou shalt not bear false witness,
Honour thy father and thy mother:
and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
    - Matthew 19:18-19

I think that pretty much covers everything to do between us and our neighbors.

You mean since He did not use the words "rape" and "abortion" it doesn't count, even though they are included in the words He used? Jesus taught that we should be more inclusive in our understanding of the Law. Not only should we not murder, we should not hate, or belittle anyone.

People have spent the past couple millennia arguing about exactly WHAT it covers. He really should have been more explicit.

I think he was plenty explicit. We just ignore it and do what we want anyways.
