Describe what good your, or any Religion has brought to this world?

You!

And now tell me does it outweigh the bad your religion has brought?

Forget how your Bible, Koran, Torah preaches it has done right, because of course it is! Its hardly going to tell you something bad about itself, if it expects you to follow its every word!

Tell me what parts of this world today are better because of religion.
And why not show your religion some criticism at the same time and tell me what parts of the world might be better today had your religion no part in its history in the last 2000 years, you cannot deny that last part, show me you have the capability to question your faith.

Now tell me how the world will be any better in the future because of any religion.

For those of you who like to think that charitable religious organizations (such as St.Vincent de Pauls) make this world a better place, think again, because there are non religious charitable organizations. And who is to say there would be any less without religion, the people who set up Vincent de Pauls might very well have done so because they are very decent human beings.

I like how you have managed to find such a different and/or unique perspective from your religions teachings.
I agree a lot with how bad men can be and especially have been in even recent history, especially towards women, but men have actually used religion as a tool for power, to conquer land and even to convince women there place in this world was second to man.

Your religion might have made you aware of this, but how about one that preaches equality, instead of forcing women to give birth to babies when they have been raped or are incapable of affording the expense.

Your wrong, a woman can be equal to a man, they can be better if they choose, and a man can feel true love for all women. I know because I do.
History might be riddled with mistakes, but it is those mistakes we learn from, allowing us to take a shot at perfection, every religion has its mistakes and when we choose to move forward, we can do so with a new religion, a perfect religion.

It is true that both men and women have there betters and worse, and that they cannot be changed as it is in our bodies chemistry, but together, they can work like yin and yang.

Man will learn to better understand and tolerate woman, have faith in that, in place of your god.

Now then tell me, as a man raised by a single mother my knowledge of woman might be better than most men, so let me offer you this wisdom.

I see many woman look for a man to serve his role as a man (or as you might say master) and if you allow him to act as such, then he will treat you like a servant. Sooner or later woman will act out of line (deliberately I hope, or in some cases, by fault) which will immediately cause tension, hard to resolve unless one is the complete victor. As the relationship has always kept power in the hands of one, the two can never meet half way in a fight.
I see this still in many women, one of my friends who you could consider a powerful man has a girl willing to do anything for him, and when she catches him cheating and decides to call him on it, he can turn it around and make her feel guilty.
I also know weak men who have has this situation you talk about in reverse, were they are what you see as the woman. Men too afraid to speak openly in case they offend there spouse, is this how you feel women are treated? And if so, then take a second look around you and im sure you will see strong women with men at there feet.

It is just something unknown to this world, hard to understand, as no religion, no class, no science has though it. Thats why I suggest a new religion with all the guidelines in how to do so, if you wish to try it, start with honesty, if you are successful and you can think it can work, I would be happy to share more.

In your current state, it would seem you have no hope, so let me offer some.

Maybe you are right, maybe your religion was highly accurate to the nature of the species, but it did not know enough about the potential of our nature.

I must walk my path alone, but I do know there is a destination, and someone to spend my last days with in that destination. We each have a side to this coin, but how you have described your life seems very sad to me, and I wish I could change that. But I will let you be, maybe it is not to late to consider becoming a nun if you so wish.

    From a personal aspect only!

My wife and I are not religious people, but we are Christians and do have a deep belief in God and include him in our daily lives. We praise him for our happy times, seek him during difficult decisions, trust him to get us though painful moments and worship him on Sundays for our wonderful life and what he does for us.

Some may say God does not exist and those that believe in him are ignorant, unrealistic and have little trust in themselves. I have been on both sides of the argument and I would much rather live the life I have today. If God is indeed a fantasy as some say, my wife and I certainly enjoy the fairytale life he has provided for us.

Our religion or belief in God certainly brings good into our lives.

Whether or not god is real, it has made a difference in your life, you are fortunate it has made a good one. For the most part throughout history it has only caused misery, war, seclusion and held back science.

But I do genuinely believe that someones belief in god can make a real effect on human life, for example there is no definite proof that there is such a thing as right and wrong, yet we have almost perfected defining good from evil.

I do believe religion has the potential to bring good to everyone, I just think it needs fine tuning, a universal religion.

Mostly anyways my religion is Asatru and as a religion it teaches it's followers to be open to others differences, value nature, and remain peaceful whenever possible but if peace is not possible to at least fight and die with honor.

I believe that overall religion has done more harm than good. I am not a religious person and would in most cases vote that all religions were written by men with the main purpose of controlling the masses and have historically led to war and destruction. However, there are many churches that help feed/cloth those in needs, so there is some good.
