Thigh meat (dark) and breast meat (white) are very similar in calories and fat within each ounce of skinless meat. Drumstick (dark) is much higher in both calories and fat. Dark meat has zinc, riboflavin, niacin, thiamin, vitamins B6 and B12, amino acids, iron. Dark meat has 11 times more zinc than spinach, which zinc has been considered as a potential nutritional treatment for early stages of cold and flu.
Many diet plans recommend dieters abstain from eating dark meat chicken, because dark meat usually contains more calories than white meat. But dark meat chicken isn't quite as unhealthy as you may have been led to believe. Dark meat chicken is rich in myoglobin, a compound packed with iron found in muscle cells. The dark meat parts of the chicken, like the chicken's legs, are rich in myoglobin, whereas white meat chicken contains no myoglobin at all. In addition, dark meat chicken contains more zinc and B vitamins than white meat chicken.
The bottom line is dark meat chicken still contains more calories and fat than white meat, although dark meat does pack greater nutritional value. If you're watching your weight, you'll probably want to eat mostly white meat chicken. Occasional consumption of dark meat chicken is also a healthy option.
I ate meat for 17 years, that was enough, never really enjoyed it much actually. I used to think I liked meat, but then I just realized it was all the flavorings, and that I could make equally good food without adding the dead animal :-)
I made it 2 years meat free after reading a book on the commercial meat processing industry...DISGUSTING. Got used to it; but couldn't seem to replace the protein adequately. Lost muscle mass. That first burger after 2 years was absolute heaven...but to each his own:)
Oh yeah, processed meat is one of the things that turned me off too.
I've actually grown more muscle mass since quitting meat but that's only because I began to exercise more, and paid more attention to my diet to make sure I was getting all the right nutrients I needed, I've found protein to be quite easily found in other products too. It's a bit harder if you're vegan, my roommate is vegan though and has managed to stay very healthy and strong, I think the key is that you need to pay close attention to your diet and to work out, same goes for everyone no matter what they eat.
Thighs, mostly, anymore. I used to love legs. I'm surprised it's becoming more desired. I prefer it because of flavor, and stays moist easier.
Admittedly, after this lady showed me how you can sort of bake it with orange juice to keep it moist, the white meat isn't so bad. I like white with BBQ sauce.
We, as a species are stuck in the genitals and lingering in puberty until death,

I even eat the cartilage in the joints.
